marcus? >> reporter: ken and lori, this the l.i.e. has reopened a short time ago after it was under investigation for hours here after a wild sequence of events that left two people hospitalized after it started with a car crash around 11:40 last night. we will show you video. this is actually the end of that sequence with the suspect on the ground being taken into police custody. this is in patchogue after he lead police on a chase in a stolen truck. it started with the car accident in holtsville near eastbound exit 62 on the l.i.e. the driver that caused the accident fled the scene on foot running down to the service road. police say either he was chased by possibly the other driver or someone else, a witness perhaps. but that person running after the suspect was then hit and the victim was seriously injured. the exact condition of the victim is unknown. then the suspect goes into a yard where he steels a tractor trailer, drives through a fence and leads police on the wild chase on route 11

marcus. >> reporter: a 23-year-old man is dead. he was trying to get out of a livery cab when he was struck and killed by a city bus. this happened just after 3:00 this morning. west 231st street and kings bridge avenue. the victim was a passenger in a livery cab. the driver says that he was intoxicated and got sick, was throwing up out of the passenger side door and then tried to get out of the cab when he was struck by the bus. the driver tried to veer around but the bus struck and killed the 23-year-old who was pronounced dead at the scene. no charges filed. the identity of the victim has not yet been released. we're live in kings bridge, marcus solis channel 7 eyewitness news. >>> new details on a mother who triggered an amber alert. jacqueline hendriks is behind bars charged with custodial interference. hendriks violated a temporary order of protection when she picked up her daughter from school on the lower east side wednesday. the child's father carlos hicks under arrest this morning. >>> we're expecting to learn more today

eyewitness news reporter marcus solis is live with the latest on this investigation. marcus? >> reporter: good morning, dave. the mother is telling investigators that the baby was stillborn and that she made a mistake by throwing the body out of the window. so, the important -- the autopsy results will determine indeed, alive at the time. >> she looks zoned out like she wasn't there. >> reporter: she saw when the mother of the baby was lead out of the building shortly after the disturbing discovery. it was yesterday afternoon when police responded to west 183rd street. this is the courtyard where the body of a newborn girl with the umbilical cord still attached was thrown from a window. 24 hours later there is a sense of shock. >> it is tragic. i don't know what the thought process was behind that. >> there is plenty of hospitals, plenty of people out here that want kids. anywhere you could have brung him. you didn't have to drop him out of the window. that is killing. that is a sin. >> reporter: video surveillance cameras captured part of the fatal fall. police found the mot

what do we know marcus? >> reporter: indeed, ken, the victim was struck by that city bus that is there, and you see a liberty cab driver, both vehicles involved. police still investigating this. what we understand is around 3:00 this morning, two passengers in the livery cab were about to get out. they requested the driver pull over. one of the passengers was getting sick. he was possibly intoxicated and started to lean out of the rear of the vehicle, open the door, and was leaning out, lost his balance, fell out of the vehicle just as the city bus was passing by, was struck by that bus and pronounced dead at the scene. the bus driver and cab driver still here at the scene. police are investigating. they are reconstructing the scene. again, the victim 23 years old struck by a city bus after he fell out of a cab early this morning on west 231st street. that area closed to traffic as this investigation continues. we're live in kings bridge, marcus solis channel 7 eyewitness news. >>> thank you. new details on

marcus has acknowledged as one of the great historians of the american jewish experience. he was my teacher. doctor marcus felt there were so many documents that needed to be collected and that although there was an archive collecting in new york, too much was going to be lost. in 47, he established he established it on the campus and the help of his graduate students he would collect materials mostly between the alleghenies. during his lifetime it grew to be one of the largest collections. not this, it has many papers and many important organization. right now, we are in the billows reading room at the american jewish archives. we have taken out a few of our very precious documents that illustrate some of the story illustrating jewish history. it is impossible to even mention the history of jewish life in cincinnati without talking about isaac mayer. this is a picture of him from his younger years. probably this is how he looked representative of when he first came to america. he arrived here from a community outside. he he wasn't all that impressed with the jewish commun

eyewitness news reporter marcus solis on the scene with the very latest. marcus what can you till us? >> reporter: dave, this is the intersection right there. you can see is the daycare center which says this happened during nap time. it's unclear whether or not the kids had any idea what was going on. a late update from police, a possible road rage incident to an incident that happened between individuals that knew each other. but not much cooperation. they are still trying to connect the dots. this happened at the intersection of thomas place and clinton avenue new rochelle just 56 1:00 this afternoon. -- after 1:00 this afternoon. two vehicles involved and several shots were fired. it will glass of at least one of the cars shot out and there was still glass in the street. now the vehicles took off and a short time later, a victim walked into mount vernon hospital with gunshot wounds to his left shoulder and his left arm. it is unclear whether or not he was involved with one of those vehicles. again, not cooperating with police. meantime, as police respo

eyewitness news reporter marcus solis in morris park with the latest. >> reporter: the city classifies this as a cluster, not an outbreak, but as you said, there is now one death associated with it, the mayor did come to this community today to meet with residents concerned about this cluster. now, the number of cooling towers where ledge neil la -- where legionella has been detected is up to 15 at some locations. some sites have more than one tower, locations that include three high schools and one hospital. this afternoon as we said, mayor de blasio and the city health commissioner came to a community center in morris park to meet with seniors. they are among the most at risk, to reassure them this cluster is more limited than the outbreak this summer in the south bronx and to remind residents to seek treatment if they experience any flulike symptoms. all 13 cases including the unidentified man who died had underlying health issues. in the meantime, the surge for the source continues. >> we still have to say that it might be multiple sources or it could be a single source. we don't k
