i'm marcus washington. morning investigators in el sobrante are trying to figure out what caused a fire at the city's public library. the firefighters say that it appears to be suspicious. the fire started about 8:20 last night with flames starting along the side of the building and eventually spreading to the roof. as the investigation continues, firefighters are also evaluating the damage. the library closed on wednesdays, no word if it will open tomorrow. >>> right now we will take a look at what's going on weatherwise. another told one but we need to get ready for the rain coming. >> that starts later on this afternoon and the evening. for the north bay we are starting to see light snowshowers moving into lake county that will continue to move closer to sonoma county as we go into the next couple of hours. right now we are below freezing and temperatures will gradually warm up from the 30s and 40s now into the 50s today as this rain starts to move in. scattered showers possible for the north bay until t

. >> and i'm marcus washington. we'll get back to the 2018 winter olympics in just a second. first we want to check with your traffic and weather this morning. kari, this was a nippy day. >>> it's another cold morning and some very dry air. that makes it feel even more chilly out there as you get ready to head out the door. we're going to start with some low 40s for the south bay and peninsula. we're about where we were yesterday and we'll continue to see the temperatures falling a few more degrees until sun rise and our high temperatures today warmer than yesterday reaching up to 65 degrees in napa. 66 in san jose. and today in livermore, 63 degrees. mike, you have a traffic alert? >>> i do. most of our bay. most of our drivers and viewers will notice no problems right now. but i'll take you pretty far up to the north out of our area. fairfield to vacaville. there is a jackknifed big rig in lanes blocking the two right lanes as you're traveling over to fairfield. there's a lot of slowing at the scene because you're down half the freeway as far as the width goes. westbound co

. >> good morning, thank you for joining us, i'm marcus washington. >> and i'm laura garcia.check in with kari right now. we will say wow when it comes to the temperatures today. >> yes, i definitely say wow. we are not supposed to be this warm. even starting out this morning with some mild weather, only seeing some fog drifting around napa, watching that visibility down to about a quarter of a mile. yes, wow, look at this, high temperatures in the mid to upper 70s today. we know it's early february and we should be seeing temperatures around 60 degrees. we're well above that. we will talk more about that in a few minutes and look ahead to the weekend. mike has an update on what's happening on the dumbarton bridge. >> westbound 84, the dumbarton bridge, an 18 minute drive time, went from yellow to orange, we just got a slower read on the average speeds across towards the peninsula, towards the facebook side. that is because of a disabled vehicle. apparently a crew didn't get out there. they said most of the activity now pushed off of the roadway on to one of the express ways,

. >> and i'm marcus washington. of course, with the rain here we have to talk about it. meteorologist kari hall standing by with a look at what we can expect throughout the day. >> we are on facebook live we were just talking to people and they were saying it's starting to rain in pittsburg, it's raining in hayward. we are going to have more rain rolling from north to south and covering much of the bay area as the morning goes along. right now as we get a look at the radar where you see the greens, light rain, yellows and the reds show where the most intense rain a pouring right now. st just south of novato and also vallejo right now. some really wet roads and also in parts of san francisco. bay view district, some heavy rain also around daly city, east bay seeing light rain at this point as it continues to move off towards the south and east, but we will see the radar filling in as we go through the day. still dry in san jose but we will get to when the rain arrives there coming up in a few minutes. >>> ethan is out there live right here, our photographer ethan driving

thanks for joining us, i'm laura garcia. >> and i'm marcus washington.e want to go to meteorologist kari hall tracking what's going on with this weather. we are expecting that rain to come on in. >> it will be another cold storm. as we look at it now it's producing rain across far northern california as it continues to move its way into the north bay it will work its way farther to the south as the day goes along. we are going to see pretty much all of the bay area covered by rain at 8:00 this evening and a lot of heavy snow developing in the sierra. for the north bay up around lake county we could see a winter storm warning in effect as we are going to have heavy snow there and elevations above 2,000 feet will have some snow. this goes on between tonight through the day on thursday as well as friday, even into saturday as we are still going to see that rain lingering and there may be another storm right behind that. as we talk about sierra snow also the potential we could have four to possibly five feet of snow in some spots. so a lot of snow on the way
