"the wall street journal" is reporting this morning that the bay area e-cigarette company juul is going to to washington, d.c. that makes sense. the company didn't need to be in the bay area. it was just founded by some stanford grads from here and juul's biggest challenge is regulatory. washington is where the regulators are. it does, though, bring up the question how many smaller companies will choose to stay here if and when the pandemic ends. san francisco has some of the highest rents in the world and up until now the justification many had was this is where the

i am marcus washington along with laura garcia. first, meteorologist, kari hall has a look at the forecast for us. how is it looking out there today? >> going to be slightly hotter today, marcus, and we are starting out with a nice mild morning across the bay area. let's look at san jose. we have a couple hours during the morning before it gets really hot. we start out in the mid-50s, and already at 10:00 in the morning we are going to be around our normal high temperature for today, as we head into the upper 80s in the south bay and there will be some 90s in the inland east bay, and much of the north bay will be in the 90s today so it will be hotter than it was yesterday, and it gets slightly hotter for tomorrow. i will look at what is ahead as we lead into the weekend, and that's coming up in a few minutes. >> thanks, kari. >>> the wildfire season begins in june or july, but because of covid concerns there's more to talk about. bob redell joins us to talk about what we can do as we shelter at home. >>> the fire season could be sta

i'm marcus washington. one solano county barbershop o live in vacaville. bob, has there been reaction from law enforcement? >> reporter: not so far, marcus. the owner is expecting to be cited by police. no officers have arrived this morning. we've reached out to pd and are awaiting a response. the shop opened up at 9:00 this morning after being shut down several weeks under an order that the owner believes is unconstitutional. he tells us he barbers are booked for the day. to be safe, he's requiring his customers, many of them first responders and military veterans, to wait outside for their turn. the barbers are wearing gloves and face coverings and are wiping down seats between each appointment. he says he needs to pay the bills and support his 13 barbers. he says the lockdown has gone on long enough, believes the pandemic shutdown order is fear-driven, points out that of the more than 440,000 people who live in solano county, there have been 263 cases of covid-19 and in his words, only five deaths. he doesn't think it's right his small business must rema

. >> i am marcus washington. we want to go straight to kris sanchez, and that could impact essential workers getting to work this morning, kris? >> reporter: yeah, the freeway is fully shutdown. the lights in the distance are the chp officers now taking measurements to figure out how the violent and deadly crash played out. we know only one vehicle was involved and three of six people in the crash died at the scene and another woman at the hospital, and the driver was arrested on the suspicion of driving under the influence and another passenger is expected to survive. we can certainly tell this is an extensive evidence field. we expect the highway will be closed until about 8:00 this morning, so if this is your regular route you should know if you are headed southbound you will be diverted off at cottle. and mike will help you with your work-around for that. and work will be affected as the drivers could be paused to see what is happening over here. we don't know yet what the cause of the crash was other than th

i'm marcus washington.cia. top stories for you including some reopening of parts of the bay area entering phase two. >> reporter: i'm bob redell in walnut creek. the health departments have indicated that their respective economies could enter phase two of the reopening as long as the covid-19 hospitalizations continue to decline. an exact date to be determined, but some time this week is the expectation. here is what stage two would look like. retail stores would be able to reopen for curbside pickup or delivery, limited manufacturing, and businesses like child care, car washes, pet grooming would be allowed to reopen. >> reporter: i'm kris sanchez in san mateo county. we will ease some restrictions for some businesses starting today. under phase two you'll be able to pick up purchases curbside like clothing and bookstores. you won't be allowed inside, though. owners can bring back a few more employees to work in shops and warehouses. small factories and office workers who can't work from home, too. no gat
