i'm marcus washington. let's start with meteorologist kari hall with a look at this forecast for us. >> we are taking a look at several concerns that we have in terms of weather over the next couple of days. we are headed for a cooldown, but as that cooler air comes in, it's going to be quite gusty at times, so that increases our wildfire risk as the fire danger continues for the next several hours. this is a live look at mt. diablo where we just had a 53-mile-per-hour wind gust. and even though we're not really feeling it in some of the valleys, some of our higher elevations up above 3,000 to 4,000 feet, it's really windy up there. as we take a look at some of our wind gusts we've had, in some of our lower lying areas, san francisco to 27 miles per hour or the past 24 hours. elsewhere it's been about 15 to 20 miles per hour. so as we look at our wind speeds, we continue to monitor for that red flag warning. that means we have high winds and low humidity occurring at the same time. all these areas highlight

. >> i'm kris sanchez in for marcus washington. we are seeing some vegetation fires pop up overnight. kari hall is watching those winds. >>> and the high fire danger will continue throughout this morning as we've seen the high wind gusts especially in our upper elevations and the wind advisory will expire at 11:00 but the rest of the day will be breezy as we see the winds gusting for even our valleys up to 50 miles an hour. this red flag warning will continue for today. up until tomorrow morning so we're still looking at breezy winds and some very dry air. we'll continue to monitor that and talk about what's ahead in our forecast coming up. mike, how is it looking driving to work this morning? >>> kari, your system and my system are map share data as we look at the maps for traffic data, the speed looks fine but the highlighted yellow is where gusty winds reported over the last half hour throughout the santa cruz mountains and the south bay. a live look shows you outside we have a little shake from the observing c oakland camera an

i'm kris sanchez in for marcus washington. >> and i'm laura garcia.e'll check in with mike in just a moment. quickly to kari because we're concerned about the high fire conditions out there. hot day ahead. >>> yeah, right. we've had the red flag warning for about an hour and a half now. it continues through 11:00 on friday morning. we are going to have high winds and low humidity in the areas shaded in red which includes all of the for the bay except for the immediate coastline, the diablo range and we could see the wind gusts over 50 miles per hour combined with hot temperatures. we are really concerned about any fires that do develop could spread rapidly and so we're looking at temperatures this afternoon reaching into the upper 80s for the south bay and peninsula. some mid-90s for the inland areas and even warming up along the coastline into the 80s today. we'll talk more about this and other concerns in the forecast coming up in a few minimum. mike, what concerns do you have for the morning commute? >> a little bit of a change. can you see it? our

i'm marcus washington. millions have submitted their votes but for those who want to cast their ballot in person, there are more options. cierra johnson has more on the massive voting centers opening. many are set to cast their ballots this weekend? >> exactly. days until that election, more places and more opportunities for folks to do just that. this is a big weekend for several bay area counties. if you're here you'll see a super voting center, a center where instead of having several polling locations, they will have one center. the oakland coliseum being one and the san mateo center behind me being the other. california voters are not required to show identification but if you are voting for the first time in the state after registered by mail, it is suggested that you bring one. in terms of contracost a county, voting there started a few minutes ago. centers are held at churches, hotels, businesses and community centers. a quick check at the contra costa registrar's website can tell you where to go. s

thanks for joining us on our newscast, i'm marcus washington. let's get to the latest fire numbers. four hours ago we got an update from cal fire. officials say the glass fire has burned more than 56,000 acres across napa and sonoma. containment 45%,. you take a look at the glass fire. you can see the perimeter of the wildfire assets grown overnight. look at this. right now fire crews are working around the clock holding containment lines in napa and sonoma counties but they are concerned about another round of red flag warnings. cierra is with us and the latest on the firefighter. >> reporter: firefighters are a step closer to determining what caused the fire that has so far burned thousands of acres throughout sonoma county. our crews have been cedar throughout the areas since the fire began and captured just how the fire impacted the town of cal stowing, a. we've been in contact with those determining how it all started. yesterday sources close to the fire investigation told nbc investigates they are focusing on electrical fencing at dancing bear ranch owned howell mountain. in t
