if we stop doing so, it will fray and eventually collapse. >> margaret brennan is at the white house sing on iran. margaret, good morning. unusual to see the president's national security adviser in my administration come to the briefing room, but he had a message for iran. what was behind that? >> reporter: well, it looks like iran is testing our new president. yesterday, iran's defense minister publicly announced this missile test and said they would continue, so we also have learned that a recent attack on a saudi ship carried out by iranian-backed rebels was mo motivated by the thought they thought they hit an american thing. that triggered flynn's strong rhetoric. what's remarkable is that he also seemed to be saying that the u.s. is now going to hold iran accountable for the medd meddling that its allies carry out whether in yemen, syria, or elsewhere. frankly, that's something that america, israeli and arab allies really like to hear, but white house aides would not tell reporters what it means. are there u.s. sanctions coming down? are there perhaps threats of armed conflict?
