i am joined by margaret hagen from unh cooperative extension. something that has become very popular recently, a lot of people are keeping their own chickens now. i would imagine one of the things we hear chickens don' t deal with very well is the cold. what do i do? is no reason to heat a chicken coop because if you have a will construct a chicken coop with good ventilation and no drafts, you really don' t have to heat. although some people believe you do. ray: if i believe it is not as well constructed and i want to get some heat in there, what do margaret: you can have drafts -- cannot have draft interesting euros because it will each the although i don' t recommend this necessarily, heat lamps are a small heater or something, when you need to have a generator for when the power is off. chickens don' t deal with the sudden drops in temperature. ray: every animal needs water and new hampshire in the wintertime, water freezes. i guess we have a solution here. margaret: if you have electricity, you cannot heated water. i don' t have electricity
