. >> and i'm mary bubala live in washington, d.c. today, a moment -- monumental day for our country as the most wanted man is taken out. we're in front of the white house. we talked with several people, a tourist, a man from maryland to came and held a sign with a special message. first, the latest on the death of osama bin laden. the white house says dna confirmed osama bin laden was killed by a team of navy seals who stormed his compound. >> osama bin laden is dead and just this has been done. >> reporter: new details are emerging. president obama made the decision to launch the mission friday. he based it on cia intelligence indicating bin laden was most likely inside the million dollar compound about 35-mile north of islamabad. two u.s. black hawk helicopters swooped in early monday morning. one developed mechanical problems but was able to land. a commander shot bin laden in the head and two others. the raid took 45 minutes. no u.s. military was hurt. bin laden was then buried at sea. >> we won a very significant victory by kill
