let's discuss with norm eisen, maria cardona and olivia troye. also joining us is cnn political commentator scott jennings. norm, what does this change? what changes tonight? the fact that the supreme court has sort of kicked the can down the road, there's still a migrant crisis tonight at the border as leyla just told us. >> alisyn, the supreme court has continued the trump-era policy that is frankly heartbreaking. these are individuals who have come to the border, they have a right under u.s. law and under international law to seek asylum and they have been turned away literally by the millions under this trump-era policy. it was supposedly based on covid. we all know that's not the real reason for it under trump. but despite the fact that an order that was entered at the peak of the pandemic, those facts have changed. and the district court was right to strike this down. but we're going to be left with the status quo and this heartbreaking rejection of migrants for many, many months ahead while the supreme court decides. >> i hear you, norm. m

maria cardona is a democratic strategist and cnn commentator, charlie dent and karen r finn is a cnn political commentator. a lot to digest here, panel. welcome all of you. jackie, let me begin with you. the fourth election for georgians in just two years' time here. there had been some concern going into this election about voter exhaustion especially given the fact the state did not hold control of the senate anymore. people came out in droves, early voting and yesterday. what does that tell you the about where voters stand in this state? >> i think you also have to look at what was at stake here for democrats versus republicans. the fact that democratic spending was so high tells you that this was about a lot more than one senate seat. it absolutely is. in addition to having 51 and a little bit more breathing room. perhaps to neutralize a joe manchin or two, it also allows them to have subpoena power, to have committees not easily split which makes it so they don't have to get bipartisan agreement to get a lot of stuff done on the committee level. this is good news for judges, for

. >> jessica, thank you so, much i wanna bring in liam donovan, former aide, and polite maria cardona collins, managing editor at axios. what's your reaction to this? >> i just think that this, is again, the focus goes to donald trump. but i agree with ron brownstein and what he was saying, i think it needs to be broader than donald trump. it's the lawyers, which we know are in there in terms of accountability. but what about the elected officials? i know we have a huge threshold in this country, or an ideal in this country, that voters know best. oh and voters are dollars with lies, or conspiracy theories, the way that we know this happened during the whole january 6th, even before. that we have to hold our elected officials do a much higher threshold. how do we do that? i hope this committee report focuses on trying to get there in some way shape or form, you liam? >> i don't think there's much new here, but i think for posterity its important document, i think that's how they approach. it i think will be dismissed by anybody that supports republicans. i, think as you saw in the res

counterterrorism adviser phil, mud maria cardona, and all of, former homeland security and covid task force adviser to vice president pence. great to see all of you tonight. norm, i am no lawyer. but burning documents in your office fireplace doesn't sound that. great you know, dozens i think was the word. of course it is hard to know what mark meadows burned. so, how legally damning? >> well alisyn, it is quite legally damning when you are looking at potential obstruction of justice and you have these badges, these indicators of trying to keep things secret, it is not just burning the documents. a couple of those episodes were after meadows met with congressman scott perry. we know he is in the justice department, bull's-eye, alisyn. they seized his phone. that is another bad sign. then there is keeping the meetings secret. keeping it on the qt. so there's a lot of evidence here that is troubling and it adds to the accumulation that suggests crimes were committed. meadows is one of those that doj is making, receiving criminal referrals from the committee on. now we know more. why? >>

i have of course maria cardona here and my guests to talk about a number of issues.this delay? has it made you anxious about the credibility or the issue of the report or just the regular rigmarole of burks? >> i am more in the latter camp. rigmarole of bureaucracy. it is not my sense the timing is the sort of thing frankly i look at this from the perspective of a pollster. is it going to affect public opinion in any way? i haven't viewed the delay as something hugely consequential in terms of how the public will receive it. what we've seen over the last year is as this committee has rolled out things even though there has not necessarily been one blockbuster that is an earthquake in the polls slowly over time it has reasserted to a lot of people that democracy is a garden that needs tending. you can't just take things for granted. we saw in the midterm elections with voters saying they have these anxieties about the state of our democracy and division, that is still here. though we've had a little bit of a delay i think for most americans that is the kind of thing w
