i talked with maria herrera by phone and she and all eight children have a place to stay now. far better a situation than just this afternoon, living in their car. herrera said some nights they stayed with a friend, but other nights they have had to sleep in the car because they had nowhere else to go. the children range in age from one-year-old up to 15. herrera says she is the victim of domestic violence and the alleged abuser kicked everyone out of their d.c. apartment a few weeks ago. differentd to five places for help, but she kept being told she had too many children. >> they want a house in place to live. for christmas. they don't want presence. -- they don't want presents. they want a house. tom: it looks like they will have a place to stay for christmas. 7 on your side's jennifer donelan got involved and she was able to connector with a resource center that is putting mom and all eight kids up in a temporary location, which they can stay there until a more permanent solution is found. tom roussey, abc 7 news. leon: here is hoping christmas is better than thanksgiving
