francine: maria, how different is the decision the ecb needs to make compared to the fed? good morning. when it comes to the european central bank, they have already downshifted from 50 basis points to 25 basis points. this is the idea that they have entered the home stretch of monetary policy and when you look to thursday, the market has priced in exactly that. yes to another hike, another 25 basis points, but the question which is the focus for the markets is the future path. particularly when you look to july and what will need to come in that meeting. when you listen to the words of the head of the european central bank right before the quiet period, she did say there had been some relaxation in inflation. perhaps some relief, but yet to see definitive proof that inflationary pressures have peaked and are now sustained on a downward path. that would be the key for the european central bank. when you look forward to the future, so far the consensus idea is yes to another 25 basis point hike in june on thursday, and another one to come intentionally in july. take a break
