maria fayata. yeah, you can come on up. i called you earlier. >>> thank you. good afternoon, supervisors. my name is jennifer johnson. i'm a deputy public defender in san francisco, 16 years. i'm also the founder of san francisco behavioral health court which is where we deal with mental health issues. i have hundreds and hundreds of people with mental illness that i've represented. i was asked to be part of the crisis intervention work group three years ago. i can clarify, there's was no training for police officers at the time. what existed before had been disbanded. were it not for angela chan, this program would not exist. it doesn't exist -- in the way it is now, she built it with a diverse group of stakeholders, a very difficult verse group i can say didn't always get along. and what we created, i'm very proud of what we created. i still train quarterly at the police training and it was based on evidence and research and what worked. and what i can say to this community is that what we do need is san francisco police officers to be well trained in mental health and what we don't need [inaudible]. >> thank you.
