let's check in with maria molina for an update. >> acoulds portions of the southeast we have had to deal with severe weather around the last couple days now we are seeing flooding being a concern. not just yesterday but today into tomorrow. we will continue to have to deal with heavy thunderstorms across portions of the carolina, georgia, alabama, mississippi even into portions of louisiana out here through out the day today. we have flash flood watching in effect and flood warnings. there is a possibility to see more severe weather. it is sort of the panhandle southern portions of alabama southeastern louisiana including the city of new orleans. any one out there needs to pay attention to what's going on with the weather. tornadoes will be possible through out the day. they will be through out portions of texas and oklahoma and we could be seeing out here as much as a foot of snow. there is a winter storm warning in effect. we have snow coming down northeastern colorado and texas panhandle. snowfall temperatures will be seeing the snow into the 30s. high temperatures into the northeast.

maria molina is tracking all of this extreme weather. good morning. >> good morning everyone.are talking about bitterly cold air across portions of the southeast all of the way down into florida. we are not used to dealing with temperatures that are this cold. take a look at these current temperatures 27 degrees right now in tallahassee in the 30s in orlando even in miami that's a little bit chilly. 49 right now in the city of miami. otherwise temperatures will be rebounding as we head into the afternoon hours. it will be getting better. it's a very short lived blast of cold air across florida. we have concern about damage of crops a freeze warning is in effect through georgia florida panhandle and down into central portions of the state of florida. just very told today during the morning hours across the state of florida. where it is very cold is the northeast not because of actual temperatures but because it's so windy that makes it feel even colder. current windchill temperature only 6 degrees below zero across new england otherwise a brand new storm system across portions

hi, everyone, i'm meteorologist maria molina from the fox extreme weather center. we want to update you on a developing story with a large storm system that right now is producing some tornados across portions of mississippi and alabama. we have at least one confirmed tornado in the hattiesburg area in mississippi where wo we've confirmed damage and current tornado warnings that affect us across the region and when the warnings are issued, you've got to seek shelter immediately. two tornado watches in effect until 11 p.m. local time, parts of southern mississippi and southeastern portions of louisiana and the boxes where we currently have the tornado warnings with possible tornados currently on the ground and a lot of rain from the storms as well. and we have multiple inches that have been reported across this area with flash flooding possible, tonight, and even over the next several days across the southeast. now, we'll continue with more of huckabee. >> tonight on huckabee, we're under attack and our enemies are using a new kind of weapon. >> cyber is now at a po

maria molina has been tracking these storms all night long. a big one. >> yes, and a littlerly in the season -- and a little early in the season. typically we see storms peak during april, may and june. today we're going to be seeing thunderstorms but thankfully not too much severe weather across portions of the southeast. flooding will be a concern during the next several days as six inches of rain could fall out here in alabama and mississippi. there is another concern. moisture moving in. during the afternoon hours it should be mild enough that most areas should be receiving plain old rain but during the morning hours, light snow and also freezing snow across the area. watch out for a slippery morning commute across portions of northern new jersey, portions of the tristate, across parts of connecticut, upstate new york and pennsylvania. in the north central, blizzard warnings still in effect. gusts over 40 miles per hour. most of the snow is over and done with across this section of the country. in minnesota, more than a foot of snow report

maria molina is live. we want to hear from you. >> good to see you. we do have many reports to tell you about and update out of maine. we report over 30 inches of snow has fallen in that area. in boston, one for the record books in the city of boston. as of the latest. to show you how strong the winds were across many cities in parts of new england and also into areas further off to the south, take a look at some of these gusts that were reported from the storm system. in the 80s. 81 mile-an-hour winds in portland, connecticut and massachusetts, 83 mile-per-hour winds. so we're talking hurricane-force winds out here in portions of new england and even in areas further off to the south. snow reports again, some places picking up three feet of snow across portions of connecticut, incredible stuff. portions along long island, 30 inches and in boston 24.9 inches of snow. incredible stuff from the storm system. the center is pulling away from the area. it's not over yet. what we have strong winds in parts of maine and massachusetts are dealing with wind an

let's go to maria molina for a weather update. what's going on? >> we have a lot of active weather across the country today. we have the storm in california you showed images from it. the area of low pressure will head eastbound and across portions of the central plains. that's where we are seeing significant snowfall easel loifr a foot of snow expected across portions of nebraska and portions of ckansas. severe weather in the form of possible tornadoes as we head into tonight and thursday. portions of california we already have winter storm warnings across the plains in anticipation of the storm system. we can see storm as late as early morning. by tonight severe weather possible in the city of dallas and able lean and saint angelo otherwise by thursday the system will head eastbound and we are looking at possible severe weather in houston and shreveport. the system is headed eastbound and by thursday we could be looking at severe weather as well. otherwise between the snow and possible severe weather we are going to be seeing significant ice acc

maria molina is tracking this storm.'re talking about yet again another blizzard impacting many areas as our record snow last week, now we could see over a foot of snow in some areas, up to 18 inches in some sections of oklahoma and the texas panhandle. that snow already coming down early this morning across the texas panhandle. very strong winds over 30 miles an hour. that area of low pressure centered over portions of texas and into oklahoma throughout the day. blizzard warnings in effect out here because of the combination of snow and wind will produce blizzard conditions. whiteout conditions very dangerous day to be on the road. storms stretches from eastern colorado to oklahoma. chicago you are under a winter storm watch. by tuesday you could be seeing over six inches of snow, the most significant snowfall you've seen so far this season. on the southern side of the storm, we have thunderstorms fired up, texas, actually florida panhandle, georgia, alabama, mississippi, heavy rain associated with these storms. floodin

maria molina is live in the weather center, and punxsutawney phil said we would only have six weeks left but it's coming with a fury. >> he is only right about 30% of the time but we want to talk about the winter storm. you mentioned about a foot of snow possible especially in southern new england. there is a cold front associated with the system and we tend to see a big rise in temperatures. that is exactly what we're going to be talking about over florida. 88 degrees could be the high temperature in miami. we're talking record level heat during the month of february across portions of florida. incredible stuff going on right now and dealing with areas of heavy rain, thunderstorms across northern florida and southern georgia. there is a possibility some of those storms could produce isolated severe weather but the actually area of low pressure off of coast of virginia. we're starting to see some the winter weather across new england but tonight into tomorrow we'll see the heavier snowfall amounts. locally 8 inches, maybe a foot in sections of the interior. kelly, believe it or not anoth

maria molina is in the fox weather center. first to mike tobin in kansas city, missouri who is getting an up close look at the storm. what is the situation there. >> reporter: it looks like the worst of the storm has passed so far. i'm watching some of the drivers go past us. the one thing that the department of transportation wants to see is empty roads right now. it's treacherous driving out there when the drivers get stuck that make it hard for them to plow around. we've got eight department of transportation vehicles that are stuck in the ditch, two of them have flipped over on their side. they say they've thrown everything they have at this storm and they they are just getting to the point where they are watching up witness right now. the last thing they want are people stuck in the road, jenna. jenna: with heavy snow like this not only the roads and we are seeing a truck make his way right behind you, some careful driving there, mike. what about power in the area? what about electricity? >> reporter: the power is real ba
