let's talk to maria molina here to explain the phenomenon.g up in kansas, there would be random wild earthquakes, tiny little ones. but to have so many in oklahoma right now, what are some of the theories? >> there are several theories going around because no one really knows what's happening underground. no one knows why these earthquakes are happening. but the big concern out here in oklahoma is that there have been so many earthquakes recently and scientists believe that when there are a lot of small earthquakes that could be a precursor to a very large one and potentially very damaging. so this is a very big concern. the first theory -- and this is the most liveliest one -- is waste water injections from fracking. it is not the actual fracking that could be potentially causing these earthquakes but scientists believes waste water injections could be creating some friction or loosening things underground and that could be creating tension and some of these earthquakes. >> the fracking people say that's not true. >> of course. they're not g

maria molina has the outlook. >> that tornado ripping through parts of can indiana yesterday.was no widespread tornado expected across the state of indiana. but it just takes one storm to produce a tornado out there and that's what we are expecting to see today. with that of that produced the of. it's moving eastward and there isn't a widespread severe weather risk expected with it. but we expect showers and thunderstorms across the northeast. taking a look at the future radar. we are still looking at it rolling through parts of the northeast and that will continue through wednesday night. we do have at least a couple days here of parts of the northeast dealing with areas of heavy rain. so that's the area we are looking at for heavier amount of rain, potentially flash flooding. there are flash floods in effect. farther west we could see an organized area of severe weather. not on today but over the next several days as well. anywhere from southeastern parts of moth into eastern colorado then thursday take a look at this. slightly toward the east, this will be a relatively slow

meteorologist maria molina in the fox extreme weather center with the very latest.retty lucky. >> they do. these storms are producing all kinds of severe weather across parts of colorado and new mexico. over the weekend we had multiple reports of tornadoes, damaging straight line winds gusting over 60 miles an hour. very large hail across parts of new mexico. they saw baseball sized hail from these storms. overall that system is headed eastward. today we could see more severe weather from parts of texas, louisiana, arkansas, parts of mississippi and southwestern tennessee. heads up if you live in the city of memphis, austin, or dallas. you do have potential later today also this evening to see some storms that could fire up this afternoon and evening that could produce severe weather. keep that in mind. by tomorrow that system moves eastward. all chances for severe weather through louisiana, tennessee and up into parts of kentucky. east of the storm system we'll have warm temperatures. that is one of the ingredients to fire up storms. look at this. 89 in new orleans
