maria molina tracking what we need to know. >> good morning.h conditions not only on the roadways because of dense fog but also you will need the umbrella across parts of the gulf coast. take a look at the maps. we have a number of advisories stretching through texas oklahoma into the midwest and also into parts of new england. widespread area dealing with poor visibility early this morning. that will be an issue on the roads and also at the airports. many of these advisories are in effect through out the morning hours. there is also a storm system that has been rather persistent out here across portions of the southeast especially across mississippi tennessee, also kentucky. there's a risk for flash flooding occurring across some of the areas because of the combination of the snow melt we saw and higher elevations in kentucky and west virginia with the warm temperatures and also heavy rain from the storm system. over the next several days a storm will continue to produce areas of rain out here several inches possible. locally up to 6 inches ov

we're turning to maria molina. >> good morning.. it has already started accumulated on roadways and sidewalks. be safe out there. i want to focus in on kentucky. they're looking at very heavy snowfall rates early this morning. some areas are already reporting well over a foot of snow. it's expected that some spots could pick up more than 20 inches of snowfall. a record setter for some areas out there across parts of kentucky, otherwise, the concern today is snow and ice. freezing rain mixing in with that as well. anywhere from parts of texas all the way to the tri-state area. it looks like this time around, some of the heavier snowfall totals will stay south of the city of boston. they will be spared some of the worst conditions from the storm system. behind it, expect cold air to move in across a big chunk of the country for a short time before a big mild air is forecast to spread across the country over the next several days. >> mild air. my favorite kind of air. >> i love the idea of mild coming our way. >>> we'll get through it

maria molina is live in the fox extreme weather center with what we can expect. ing, maria. >> good morning, martha. in defense the of mother nature. that is not technically spring just yet. that happens 6:45 p.m. eastern time. some areas feeling more like summer especially miami 88 degrees for the high temperature. you will be in 80s in the city of phoenix but across the mid-atlantic parts of northeast feeling like winter out there. here is a look at the storm system. that snow is already spread across parts of pennsylvania, parts of northern maryland, portions of west virginia, into new jersey. for new york city you will see snow as well. we have winter weather advisories in effect, stretching as far west from parts of maryland to southern portions of connecticut. it is somewhat of a localized storm. new england will not see significant storm from the snow system. most of the snow will stay south. locally we'll look at six inches of snowfall. that is especially true among higher elevations. generally speaking looking to three to five inches of snowfall. temperat
