maria molina is live with more. >> good morning. the severe weather pattern will continue across the central u.s. over the next couple days. this will be something you watch especially if you live out there and we have the potential to see more tornadoes not only as we head into today but through the weekend saturday and sunday across the plains. here's a look at the areas at higher risk. that includes parts of southern texas and northwestern kansas southwestern parts of nebraska. those are the hire risk areas of large hail damaging winds and tornadoes. but the entire region from parts of southern nebraska to southern texas are looking at the possibility of bigger storms. further east across the gulf coast how much heavy rain we have picked up. we have seen showers and storms over the last several days and the forecast is for several more inches of rain through the panhandle georgia alabama and further west through louisiana. flash flooding continues to be a concern. parts of colorado and wyoming we are expecting about two feet of s

maria molina is tracking snow, wind all of that across the country for us. >> maria is here with the latest. >> hi. it feels like spring across most of the countries but out west we have been dealing with snow and quite heavy at times across utah we have seen reports of 1-2 feet of snowfall. that is forecast now for parts of colorado. i want to share with you the severe weather risk today. ahead of this system we have a lot of moisture warm temperatures and conditions that are favorable for severe storms especially across parts of the texas and oklahoma panhandle southwestern parts of texas. there's a small chance some of the storms could produce isolated tornadoes. please be careful out there. further east we have been dealing with heavy rain across the gulf coast. that risk does condition today. today -- continue today. we are looking at 6-10 inches across alabama and eastern texas flash flooding will be a concern. as far as the rockies we are expecting more snow. we have winter storm warnings in effect. the forecast is for as much as two feet of additional snowfall from parts of c

maria molina joins us live from that area.yes. it is devastating. >> reporter: it is very devastating here in fairdale. this town, by the way, is about 70 to 80 miles west of the city of chicago. and take a look at this behind me. this is what appears to have been a building just completely we've seen other images as well across the city, the town of basically fairdale. we've been seeing some roofs that have been kind of blown off. we've been seeing cars severely damaged and trees and power lines down as well. so, the damage here is very extensive. and we understand that every home in this town was either damaged or completely destroyed. so that kind of gives you an idea of just how powerful this twister was that tore through this area late afternoon and also into the evening hours across parts of illinois. there were other areas that were severely damaged as well just south of here. just a couple miles south of here rochelle, there were people that had to be rescued by crews because the restaurant that they were in was severe

that is where meteorologist maria molina is live this morning. look like to you as you see that? >> hi, bill, what a scene out here. i want to show you some of the devastation we are observing as the sun has risen. a lot of debris thrown everywhere. you have crews that are starting to work on cutting down some branches and also some power lines, getting them out of the way. we have a power line down here, our cameraman standing right next to it. we also have a car that was flipped, tossed by the massive tornado that went through the town. you can see it back there. when appears to be insulation from a home thrown just all across this area. this is just, it gives you an idea how powerful this storm really was and this tornado came through the area. it was a large wedge tornado. they develop very rapidly and started rotating producing tornadoes. why it is important that people take the warnings very seriously and heed them. we do have a risk for more severe storms today. doesn't appear as the tornado risk was high as yesterday across parts of illino
