whether it was yuma, maricopa or other places, they were concerned that maricopa was using a standard that was not allowing votes to be counted in other parts of the state. there's been an agreement to count everything the same, to follow the same procedure. and that's important. a vote that's cast in yuma shouldn't be disqualified under the same provision that qualifies a vote in maricopa. a legally cast vote, wherever it is legally cast, should count the same, not with differing standards of the offices. >> there was accusation of cooking the books and i don't see any evidence of illegality. there are questions, if you want to get technical, about what emergency voting is. in maricopa county, the law is very vague, emergency voting stations before election day, two of them in republican areas, mesa and scottsdale and different counts interpret that law in different ways. that's not cooking the books and i keep hearing your organization, your chair of accusing people of breaking the law. >> if you're a voter in arizona and you cast a vote in yuma and you cast a vote in phoenix, legal

this is the current running count in maricopa.ning count because there are still hundreds of thousands of votes still to be added to this. they added them in batches. they added about 125,000 tonight. and from that 125,000 they favored sinema by more than 20,000. that was the margin that cod got added in here. this istusen, the part of the state sinema was from, also at added a big batch from there tonight. you add those two together and it was enough to have a 9,000 lead. they're going to keep counting tomorrow, into the weekend into next week. what is going on is this, arizona is a state with a lot of vote by mail. a lot of people dropping off, mailing in ballots early. what they're counting right now seemed to be ballots that were delivered late last week, over the weekend, a couple of days before election day. those types of ballots tend to favor democratic candidates and certainly seem to be favoring sinema. there are probably in maricopa county, there's probably 150,000 or so of those ballots left. so i expect tomorrow they'

the biggest news out of maricopa county, the largest in arizona.he led by 8,000 votes on election night and has now stretched that lead to 2.5%. over one republican has won a statewide race without winning in maricopa county that was for a special superintendent race. martha mcsally still believes she can pull it out a campaign statement said with half a million votes to be counted we feel confident as votes get counted from across the state, martha mcsally will be elected senator. nearly all the remaining ballots are in maricopa county so democrats would have flipped the seat vacated by jeff flake. the republican party has sued counties on verifying ballots when there's not a perfect signature match. maricopa and three other counties are calling voters to confirm their votes. other counties only do that to election day and throw out the late ballots with a signature issue. the head of elections told me yesterday he's always worked to make sure every vote counts regardless of how it's done elsewhere. >> like in the other 3,000 counties in the unite

these are from maricopa county.ema the democrat her lead when you came on the air was 10,000 votes. it is now 22,000 votes because of this new batch that just came in. again they are from maricopa county, biggest county in the state, around phoenix. the margin, i'm looking at the math to see what happened. it was about 54,000 new votes that came in for kyrsten sinema and about 32,000 votes that came in for martha mcsally. what's happening is arizona is a heavy mail-in voting state. so they've been counting over the past couple days, ballots mailed last weekend, a couple days before the election. the expectation would be that they would favor sinema a little, i think they're favoring her more than expected. still with this batch of votes we got, there are still probably about 375,000 votes in arizona yet to be counted. again, a lot of them from maricopa county. republicans are saying they hope the final batch, ballots people dropped off at the polling place on election day might favor mcsally but she's starting to fa

more than 219,000 votes have yet to be tabulated, most of those from here in maricopa county. democratic congresswoman, kyrsten sinema leads martha mcsally by 32,000 votes. they say with the latest ballot count, kyrstin's lead is ins insurmountab insurmountable. the mcsally campaign did not respond to phone calls or texts made by fokt news. the last we heard from them was on saturday saying the latest release offers compelling evidence that the remaining uncounted ballots are favorable to martha. the maricopa county recorder, adrian fontez, says they will continue to tabulate the reports even if things appear to be over at some point. >> one, the press can call it. that doesn't mean it is over. two, a candidate can concede. that doesn't mean it is over. three, we can publish our final numbers after we are done tabulating every ballot and then we will know who the winner is. >>> the arizona gop party has questioned whether a democrat should be in charge of the maricopa count. some republicans have pushed back. >> the partisan, heavy-handed, heavy-adjective attacks against the c

maricopa county, biggest county in the entire state, and sin kyn sinema is leading in maricopa, and trailing statewide, that's something that has democrats worried. republicans feeling good about where they stand in this race. and another race that is outstanding, florida. .4% separates scott and nelson. the reason it's outstanding, .5% is the trigger for state-wide runoff in the state of florida, and still absentee ballots and provisional ballots to be counted. we will see what happens when those comes in. the other issue, the other thing everybody is paying attention to is what is going on in the house. there's a little more than a dozen races outstanding there, and i want to look at some of those real quick. these are the uncalled pickup opportunities here. about 13 races still outstanding. take a look at where democrats stand and where democrats have new opportunities. one of the places they could pick up something was california, and they have three races they are leading in, and some are razor thin. katie hill was up by 250 votes two hours ago, and now up by about 2500. we will have to

the bulk of the outstanding vote is in maricopa county, about half of the population of the state.s from maricopa county yet to come are from a particular collection of ballots, ballots that were sent in before election day. they're heavily the ones that have been counted in the last day. they seem to be favoring sinema. we have 70,000 ballots likely to favor sinema. after that there will be about 195,000 that are counted from a second collection of ballots. these are ballots that people brought into the polling place on election day. they had them at home, they filled them out, they brought them in on election day. these are likely, republicans say, to favor mcsally more than sinema, although the extent of how much they'll favor her is unclear. there are 60,000 from down here in pima county, tucson, a blue area of the state where sinema has been running up the score against mcsally. then there are about 50,000 sort of from the rest of the state. so if add all of this together, you've got well over 300,000 ballots still to be counted. the bottom line is sinema has taken the lead. s
