i couldn't write about all of them so i end ed up writing about the young marine, a great young marine, staff sgt from maryland whose mom i got to know, i used to see her in sections 60 all the time and i wrote about him as a way of talking about this new weapon characteristic of the most recent, the roadside bomb, which our government has spent millions and millions of dollars trying to come up with a fix, trying to find a way to beat it and they made some progress but it is almost impossible. b i e d is so easy to make, cheap to make, easy to conceal and it has been a very effective weapon in our most recent conflicts in iraq and afghanistan. this is a way to talk about that weapon that took out so many young men and women, namely men in section 60, women are not, have not been directly involved in combat, getting closer and closer, so in section 6 we begin to see women truckdrivers blowing up by i e ds, they are right there alongside a guy, women, helicopter pilots, helicopters have been very important in afghanistan, it is the only way you can get a round. more helicopters, more wo
