nbc bay area pete suratos joining us from marin county with the details. i can't believe they found them. good morning, laura. and the last time we heard from the family members, it could be days before the couple's release here in marin county, but we have some of the latest pictures that we have seen from the couple from palo alto recovering in marin county, and you are looking at carol kiparsky and i ian irwin who were rescued after spending eight days in dense area. they went missing after a hike on valentine's day near the rental cabin in that area of inverness area in marin county and the new photo is showing the poison oak and the vines they were trapped in for days and in fact, they ate off of a fern and drank from a puddle of water just to stay alive. the member of the search and rescue team who was the first to find them had this to say about the couple's perseverance through the ordeal. >> they said they had both given up at times, but they comforted each other and helped them through it. if either had been there alone, they wouldn't have surviv
