nielsen was heading down i-5 today to cover the fires since they passed this strike team coming from marin county. a part of the cavalry of firefighters from northern california, including teams from alameda county and santa rosa. here, we are seeing firefighters from skywalk average, tiburon, and central and southern marin. and a team of 22 firefighters, they are heading to socal from santa clara county, bringing five engines with them. they're going to be assigned to fight the eaton fire near pasadena. and they say all of them have volunteered for the duty, where they could be gone for up to two weeks. >> the two that we have is the training, the special equipment. we have camping gear. we have everything that we need to be self-sufficient for 72 hours. and also to camp out in the dirt if we need to, depending on where the fire front is. >> and the battalion chief wanted locals here to know these assignments are in addition to the firefighters that are still on duty here in the bay area. so he says we are fully covered up here. ryan? >> all right, thanks, anne. >>> first alert chief meteorologi

in marin county.bernard abc seven news. >> well, those fires have many of us here in the bay area thinking about disaster preparedness. and that was emphasized yesterday morning when a minor the bay area. the quake was centered about three miles off the coast of san francisco's ocean beach, not far from the zoo. it hit just minutes after 7 a.m, and the usgs puts the magnitude at 3.6, so there were no reports of injuries or damage. but we did have three recorded aftershocks that followed, all in the magnitude two range. those were all too small to trigger an alert on the myshake app, and also too small for a tsunami warning. whether it's the fires in la, though, or earthquakes closer to home, the signs are clear. now is the time to get your emergency kit ready if you haven't already done it. and we've been getting expert advice all week long about what you need to pack for them are to help you and your personal self and your family get through a couple of days without items that you are used to having,

marin county is at about 180% of its rainfall for this time of year.t has been exceedingly record dry in this region. and then you add these winds. and the other day when the fire started, those were record winds. but the winds continue to keep coming and no rain in sight. this is the story with the red flag warning through wednesday. the red flag warning stays in effect. winds are relatively light right now. this is out by the eaton fire. the winds are right now are east at about five, gusting to ten. that's relatively light. and then go to the palisades fire. just picking up two of them. six miles an hour sustained out of the north northeast, 15 on the gusts. but i am finding spots that are gusting up to 25 and 30 miles an hour. and so the story here the next three days is going to be these winds picking up overnight. this is the model. the model shows you at 10 a.m. tomorrow morning. see the purple area. the numbers are fine. but look at the purples. look at the darker colors. that's where the wind field is. that's getting funneled. we've talked abo

it's 6 24 and in marin county. 2 people are accused of voluntary manslaughter. >> for an opioid overdoseth of a 22 year-old man in corte madera. police found that man's body in a car saturday morning on sunnyside avenue and the sheriff's took over the investigation. they ended up arresting the suspects, the identity of the victim has not yet been released. the fremont police are crediting prop 36 with multiple recent arrests. they arrested 18 people in december during a two-day operation where officers watched to businesses have themes that were stealing from them often and they surveilled that they found 9 of these arrests for credited with prop 36 that allows for a felony arrest. if the suspect had 2 previous staff related convictions. the fremont police say they also separately arrested another man at the fremont hub for causing a disturbance in stealing alcohol. he was later charged under prop 36 as well. >> well, california's homeless population remains the biggest in the nation, but new federal data shows the crisis is growing more slowly here than in most of the rest of the countr

they nabbed the driver and what caused the chase in the >> multiple law enforcement agencies in marin county helped to capture a wrong-way driver that led them on a chase on highway 101, yesterday afternoon, this chase started and rohnert park. police tried to stop a vehicle that was connected to a burglary. the driver was identified as casey back. they say that he rammed one of the officers cars. and went on 101, southbound and then neighboring law enforcement stepped in. that car was driving in the opposite lanes of traffic and sandra fell. police officer finally use their cruiser. they pin that car against a wall. you can see the crash that ended here and then back had a brief standoff with the police and was eventually taken into custody. >> in windsor, another stolen car led to a pursuit by sonoma county. sheriff's deputies. this happened yesterday started on southbound. 1, 1, going towards central windsor after the driver got off the highway. the stolen vehicle then ran over spike strips eventually stopped. you see here, the driver tried to get out and runoff, but deputies got him. he'

it's a nonprofit here in marin county.t they're trying to do is collect donations today like a pet food and take down there to la this. just one of the ways that folks in the bay area can help out folks who are impacted by those devastating wildfires down south. so the way it works is they're going to be collecting those today travel down tomorrow. the spca in los angeles says that the fires have a cause. major problems, displacing pets after their owners are forced out of their home. so there's an urgent need now for things like pet food, blankets, other things that dogs and cats need to get by livestock as well. forces. another issue is space. there's a lack of that shelter. space is limited. so that's where loves animal rescue. upper end comes in. so today, though, >> to los angeles and what they want to do is also bring back some pets with them. >> and so they'd like to find some foster homes for those pets here in marin county. so if you're thinking, hey, i could help out. i want to do something to protect these poor

marin county also deployed a search and rescue team just over the weekend to help out in southern californiaey're working on the eaton fire, helping to search for survivors and assess the damage hazards that are in these burned out neighborhoods. 30 people are in that crew that was sent from marin county, other bay area. fire crews have come from the alameda county, san mateo county, napa county, as we showed you. and of course, san francisco fire department has set some crews as well. >> well, a man is in custody now after police say he shot at a bus driver in san francisco. it happened at about 6 o'clock monday morning near 4th and berry street in the city's mission bay neighborhood. police say the man shot at the driver and then ran off the bullet didn't hit anybody. so nobody was hurt. police did later find that suspect and that person is now in custody. meanwhile, a suspected dui crash has turned deadly in san jose. police say the victim was hit by a car sunday night while walking in the intersection of lincoln avenue and loan u.s. street. the driver involved was taken into custody, is

in marin county, the mycological society of marin hosted its annual wild in marin fungus festival at the mill valley community center. the event featured an extensive display of wild mushrooms picked from all over the bay area. there were also mushroom themed products including art, clothing, and of course, some food. >> if you're lucky and fortunate, become more skilled as foragers. you come across a lot of mushrooms, and you have to figure out what to do with the bounty of those mushrooms. and so fermentation becomes a beautiful way to preserve that bounty. so that's how we got into turning those mushrooms into miso. >> the event also featured workshops and speakers who spoke about mushrooms being used for medicinal purposes. climate mitigation. roadwork is set to begin on hig 37 in solano and sonoma counties. road work is expected to begin tonight at nine. caltrans says during this time, the eastbound lane will shut down from the state highway 121 junction near sears point to railroad avenue in vallejo. the agency hopes to have this portion of the work done by february 1st. eastbo
