our latest earthquake was in 1989 it hit the marina district hard. this photo was taken in the marina. if you look closely at the garage door. it's not showing up too well but it's not too square. this building is probably leaning permanently against in building. if you look at this building it doesn't look too straight up and down this building is leaning, too. over there, something is not there anymore. >> another reminder from the 1989 earthquake, this used to be a 4 story apartment house. my guess is that this is the type of apartment house which has lots of garage door openings and other openings at the street level a soft story. it's likely that the soft story condition lead to contributed to this building collapsing much notice this gentlemen on the balcony. i wonder if he's getting out or trying to do some rescue. the 1989 earthquake was a magnitude 6.7 earthquake. the 1906 earthquake was magnitude 7.8. between 7.8 and 6.7 that's 10 times bigger. the latest projections indicate that there is a greater than 30 percent no greater than 60 percen

i am a marina district resident. before you came today, it is the question of whether t-mobile should be granted an accessry use permit proposed at the location under discussion. the wts facilities guidelines were adopted by the city in 1996 and supplemented by the planning commission in 2003. these guidelines require a conditional use permit in a neighborhood such as the one that 2010 chestnut is located. additionally a presence five location, like the subject building, requires it. a location like the subject building requires an alternative site analysis from t-mobile explaining all of the available alternative its has and why they are not viable for its proposed antennas. instead, t-mobile is relying on a zoning administrator's determination and is engaging in the abuse of the accessry use process to try to slip itsa antennas in without planning commission oversight and without explaining why alternative sites or other means such as a roaming agreement cannot be utilized instead to achieve their objectives. shoul

feel compelled to speak a little bit to this simply because i'm the supervisor that represents the marina. we all remember what happened back in 1989. one thing that i do want to say in support of doing anything we can, during the earthquake, we had it eleven thousand first responders that were in the marina and about four hours coming out of the army division at the presidio and coming out of the air station that is also still active. both of those bases have been closed down. we have residents living in the presidio that means our need in an earthquake could be even greater. the support that we had back in 1989 is no longer there, and we need it even more now to prevent any problems from occurring, anything we can do to prevent a real disaster from taking place. i like to think the task force and anyone who has been involved in this effort. president chiu: i understand that several colleagues would like to continue this conversation until after the budget discussion. supervisor avalos has made the motion. seconded by supervisor mar. >> is there a roll call on that motion? president chiu
