we are at marina green and this is military muscle at its finest. the u.s. marines out here and just as importantly, they brought all their toys and the equipment. we'll walk around and show you what's going on. if you've ever thought about being in the military played with military toys as a child. this is for you. everything you've ever wanted to see and you get to talk to them and touch some of the piece of equipment. here's a triage year. just in case you ever wonder what they do in battle zones and they jump into action and they even have example there for you. but you know it just as cool and we all know. but the blue angels and little bit later today, they'll have a parade of ships all afternoon. it is fun to talk to military personnel up close and personal and some of them are truly heroes like dennis mitchell sergeant. don't want take that away from sergeant dennis mitchell. tell us how you jumped into action and save somebodys life. so last october in 2022, myself and 2 other marines were alerted to drowning victims off of the coast of coronado off

um, canvas have come on down to marina green.to see the blues fly or the entire air show aquatic park anywhere along the embarcadero. great, great viewing point for that. um, along with the air show we have so many things going on. we have two navy ships here in port. we have two coast guard cutters in port. those four ships will be open for tours throughout the weekend from 10:00 to four every day, saturday, sunday and monday . want to reiterate that there will be no tours on the ships on friday because our ships will get back under out. to sea tomorrow and then they will get information and come back under the golden gate bridge for the parade of ships at 11:00 tomorrow. so beautiful sight. one of the one of the things we're most proud of every year during fleet week is that parade. yeah, i have witnessed a parade of ships on many occasions right there by the golden gate bridge. it really is something special to watch. and the weather should be fantastic for it. let me ask you, if i could, about the really moving tribute today

once again, marina green was filled with people who had came to marvel at some of men's most amazing scenes. but when the smaller planes talk over, the moves got a lot fancier. at least that is how 11-year-old timmy saw it. >> it was fast and so low and making such amazing stunts. it is just really cool. >> reporter: another highlight was it the appearance of an f-35. the jet can do anything others do but also has the ability to take off and land vertically and hover like a helicopter. watching probably from the crowd was fernando cruz. his son was one of the lead designers of the aircraft's avionics. >> everything he has done in his life. he has accomplished. >> one of the things they can create for the military. these things are amazing. they are incredible. >> reporter: but the show took a human turn when they began their acrobatics. they got a special honor and were asked to perform a missing woman formation in honor of fleet week's founder, the late senator dianne feinstein. >> it is not something you do all the time. so when they approached us and said, hey, can you do that and

the marina green is kind of like the district of columbia. it is a area for all peoples and if you stroll there you will see everybody from every part of the city all ethnicities, all income levels enjoying unimpeded views of the bay. i was frankly taken aback that after two meetings with the public where the recreation and park department just said here's what we are going to do. we don't really care about what the public wants. that is antetical to rec and park where it is part of everyone living room and there is work that has to be done whether a dog park that conflicts with a playground and rec and park has done a good job of that up until recently. their behavior around united nation plaza,b i said at the time, wow, this is insulting, it is mistreatment of a low income neighborhood that is a food desert. this would never happen in the marina or pacific heights. well, i was wrong, because they are actually treating everybody shablly. i attended with supervisor safai a meeting that had hundreds of people who are all rightfully outraged. m
