marina maracco is live with more on what this means for the city. marina. >>reporter: tony and shawn this is really going to be an important decision for the district regardless of how things shake up. now, this two to would be appellate c ing the lower court, the district court to essentially throw out d.c.'s current law. now that could happen in months, but the reality is the district will likely challenge that and if they do this could end up all the way at the us supreme court most people realize how incredibly difficult it is to get a permit probably don't even bother going through the process . there are 124 handheld permits in the district of columbia, a number the center says would be closer to 48,000 in d.c. were like the 42 right to carry states. the people in the high crime areas of d.c., poor black areas, it's impossible for those individuals to go and get a concealed carry permit. i'd be surprise pd if there is a single individual who lives in those areas who is, you know, anywhere middle income or poorer who has a concealed carry permit. the d
