marina green. when i was discussing this, she mentioned the reason they were doing this was because the other two intersections at lion and baker were not safe. ~ i actually totally agree with that in substance, but i'm not sure the right solution is to have -- hope that these young children are going to always go down to broderick and cross at the appropriate place. and, so, you know, i'm hoping that if authorization is given, which i said i'm generally in support of, there be conditions attached to that around the safety of these students because it sounds like their p-e classes and physical activities would be taking place on little marina green. and i'm not a traffic engineer so i don't have any specific things to prescribe, but i would hope that somebody who does know would take the opportunity to think about signage and traffic calming features that we would associate with schools that are zoned that way and what we normally see around school yards. also given that once the students are on little marina green, there is actually no fencing you would normally see on a playground at other schools in the cit

marina green once going for over 100 bucks are now free. today, as the teams are racing up and down the bay, crews were already racing to take down the marina'sacing village. >> what you see happening at moment is we started the process of removal of, let's say, some of the bleachers. >> reporter: the extended races have made sailing fans of hotel and restaurant owners like owner of pier 23 bar on the emba embarcadero. >> it's been chaotic and fun filled. we've made great money. it's been a lot of fun for us and we're having a good time. we continue to have a really good time. >> reporter: somehow the races have gone on long enough to turn diehard football fans like tony into sailing nuts. >> i'm coming back tomorrow. yes, i am. and, yeah, usa! >> reporter: joe rosato jr., nbc bay area news. >> it is a lot of fun. here's how it works. tomorrow at 1:00 in the afternoon, larry ellison will call jeff ranieri. if the wind is cooperating we air the america's cup final right here on nbc. >> got a lot of pressure on you, jeff. >> i know. >> get the call from larry. >> i know. if larry called me right now, i'd say it's probably about a 75% chance it

is a trend that's been occurring as long as i've been living in the marina, which is to allow bigger houses on small lot spaces that were never intended to be occupied by such big houses. we personally had a situation several years ago where we were promised that the project sponsor immediately to our east would not encroach on our light and safety. and when the ultimate house got built, it was twice its original size and, in fact, the entire east side of our house was blocked. and to make matters worse, the property line is encroached upon so that we have no exit for our children. we have two daughters and we now have no exit on a breezeway that used to run through our house which obviously in the marina is critical given the seismic issues. so, i think what i would ask the commission is we respect -- in our case we respect that our neighbor's right to build and encourage that and we oppose the idea of expansion, but i think there is a run away trend in the marina which was never intended to have such large houses and such intrusive projects and ones that block light and air to so many. i think it is a fair time to ask
