for those of us on the bay, we're talking a thick marine layer. we're not going to see the warm temperature that we have over the last couple of days because of this marine influence. as we start out this morning, around 9:00 you're noticing we'll continue to see this fog really stretch very far inland. the further inland you go, the higher the cloud deck, but still the gray skies keeping things cooler. as i advanced on throughout the morning it does start to diminish, first for the inland locations and then north bay locations. we'll see more sunshine inland, but will still keep the clouds right along the coast for us today. that will keep the coast cool throughout the day. a good portion portion of the day will be under cloud cover which will keep us nice and cool compared to what we saw earlier this week. we're talking upper 80s for much of the south bay, but we get cooler, and 60s even 50s along the coast today. the other side of the bay is where temperatures start to warm. warmest spots inland, 97. the closer to the bay you get the cooler we

you can blame it on the marine layer. usually it's 1500 feet deep. this month we have had only three days in san francisco that have been fog-free and that marine layer has roughly been about 2500 feet deep. meanwhile, that cooler air mass associated with that marine layer swoops inland so it keeps our inland temperatures unseasonably cool. today's high temperature right here in the mount vaca area was at 88 degrees. we had highs from 61 degrees in san francisco to 86 degrees in concord and in livermore. currently walnut creek with 77. same story morgan hill. mill valley 62. and san francisco, if you are heading to the city a night on the town, you need a jacket. it's currently 56 degrees. satellite we are beginning to see the image fade out because the sun does set at approximately 8:19 so we are losing a little coverage. but it gives you a flavor of the low clouds and fog that's pushing under the golden gate bridge. we still have high pressure, it is the key component. but again, with that very deep marine layer, it's a stagnant weather pattern. no
