this will be trained to do with the navy and marine corps and all of our elements in the fifteenth marine expeditionary unit. it was a remarkable day because simultaneously the fifteenth was conducting operations across the fear and that day people arrested in pakistan, bombs dropped on taliban in support of enduring freedom and a hostage rescue. such a remarkable commentary on what the navy and marine corps is doing and the importance of maritime influence out at sea so it was a truly remarkable day. our role forced the company to provide the fifteenth with an assault. my role on that is a bunch of talented individuals i work for and i set out of the way and let them do their job and that is what it comes down to the 9 on the radio telling my boss about the work we're doing. we were the proof of concept for the marine corps in 2008 and we stand up to a maritime trade force and get back to search and seizure and ability to conduct into the collaboration's, distributed operations at sea so we were that element. on may of 2010 we deployed head of the fifteenth and conduct training operation

marin county. let's go to ktvu reporter kraig debro. the chp issued a warning for flooding. we've got our eye on it right now. it doesn't appear to be anything out of the ordinary right now. again, the driving rain is making conditions dangerous. we've also just learned that schools in point pray station, toe mal less and on the coast in invernness have closed because of flooding. earlier this morning on highway 880 in san lee an droa we had a condition. chp got a call that there was flooding. they had reports that a car had hydroplaned and spun out. by the time they got there there was no car. there were three drains that were clogged. they were able to unclog two. but a third drain was still clogged with a lot of asphalt, a lot of debris, a lot of leaves. caltrans worked on the situation. it was cleared up before 6 a.m. this morning. they originally closed two lanes. that went down to one. as of 6:00, all lanes were reopen. highway 101 is starting to gather steam. southbound cars, you can see off

tavis: your a vietnam veteran. -- you are a vietnam veteran. >> marine. tavis: there have been so many comparisons between vietnam and afghanistan. when the comparison was first made, ted kennedy when he was alive made that comparison. he got concern from a lot of different people. i have heard other people make that comparison. what is your sense of that comparison now between vietnam and afghanistan? >> i think vietnam is ancient history, and it is hard to make the comparison even though i thought there. the way we treat our troops today is terrific. the troops know it and appreciate it, and that is not the case in the past. this country has a vibrancy to it that is terrific. we are able to distinguish between missions we may not like as individuals, and still represent a fine view towards our people, towards our soldiers and marines and say, god bless you. the one thing i see a similarity, and i bring this out, in vietnam, land mines were a problem. in afghanistan, this is cost -- this is called an improvised explosive device. this is the single bigges

. >>> new information about a slide in marin. the chp says all lines are back open after a slide, that happened at erica road. the highway patrol said that after the slide was cleared there was still quite a bit of mud on the road. and caltrans had to send in a water truck to wash it off. the road was finally opened about 90 minutes ago. >>> and also, a section of redwood road is closed tonight. yesterday's rain washed away the hillside under the road, causing it to fall. the police say it will be closed for a period of time. >>> and the stormy weather taking a toll in the santa cruz mountains. an 80-foot fir tree came crashing down overnight on nelson road in scott's valley. another tree crashed into a home as well, just barely missing the homeowner. it started back on monday when a massive slide blocked nelson road, cutting access to three homes there. help arrived to build a temporary road. the project is expected to take a week. >>> another area hit hard is cap capitolo, where there was storm run-off. the residents say it is
