to the extent new york has a political family dynasty, it is mario cuomo's family.nt governor. he was elected in a landslide in 2010. he's leading by a mile. but hanging over governor cuomo's entire first term has been a slew of government corruption cases in new york state. one after another. you remember, andrew cuomo took over. he took over for the guy who had to take over for the guy that resigned in the hooker scandal. that's right, that's how he got there. that was the environment andrew cuomo was coming into. the state legislature was a different style of utterly corrupt, within a two-day span last year, the u.s. attorney for the southern district of new york, announced that his office was bringing federal corruption charges against a new york state senator, a new york city councilmember, two party leaders for trying to sell the mayoral race, he was bringing bribery charges for trying to sell legislation. all in the space of 48 hours, that was accompanied by this footage. it's not the kind of thing that engenders confidence in government. newly elected govern

well the problem with that is his own father, mario cuomo in 1987 impanelled a very similar type of commissionommission that looked into governor particular yoe cuomo's dealings. that puts a hole in the current cuomo's defense. as to what they were uncomfortable with the panel looking at, subpoenas into a couple of allies and associates of the governor. the media firm for which he placed ads, there was subpoenas placed to that company. there was another organization called the real estate firm better new york, organization. this was a very, very big donor to the governor's re-election campaign. so there were a couple of associates like this. there was something called a committee to save new york. this was a essentially kind of like a third-party group that was, that existed to support the governor's policies. when there was talk of getting them a subpoena, allegedly the governor's associates intervened as well. so there's a lot here to unpack. >> well peter, and the question hanging over all this is what makes this such an interesting story on top of everything, blake just talked about is the
