let's go to david welch and reporter mark bergen. a phenomenal move in gm shares on the reaction of the softbank injection of cash. how will this expertise come -- coming from softbank, now that the money is up in the cruise unit? david: gm has been investing quite a bit in cruz. it was not clear they needed money. softbank appraised -- approached gm. he gives gm more than $2 billion to help develop self driving cars. they don't need to take it out of their existing r&d product budget. $2 billion, that is two new vehicle programs for cars that need money. g.m. can spend their internal cash on programs that will return money now. it gives softbank's -- their endorsement on gm's technology and maybe some players in silicon valley, somebody like uber, maybe they will be more interested and tying up with somebody like an old traditional car company. then they would have before. softbank has a big name in the tech world. caroline: plenty of ponies in the mark, we are seeing big pockets coming from softbank's vision fund. equally, waymo. t

we spoke with bloomberg's caroline hyde from london and bloomberg tech's mark bergen. : we saw a couple things happen on friday when it went into effect. a lot of european marketers and publishers stopped spending on automated advertising. they were a little nervous that these new rules where every single company, there is just dozens of company along this for supply chain, they are now required to give consent. so a lot of them pulled back and a lot of them said we know google is in compliance and they have enough lawyers, so we will spend with google because we are more comfortable. there are some companies that claim that google was shifting more dollars in that direction. it sounds like that has moved back more towards equilibrium, but it demonstrates the concern that these companies have that google is very powerful in this market. emily: you have a quote from one of them saying anybody that says gdpr is a good thing is it a monopoly or a liar. mark: that quote is anyone who is prepared that in the sense that there was this concern there would be mayhem that struck

and we have mark bergen parent want to start with the big picture.h progress on the diversity report. women are only 31% of the work force but they get points for more transparent and more information about attrition. what is your reaction to the fact that not much has improved in 12 months? >> i'm disappointed that not much has been done. there's a lot more that could be done to improve diversity and inclusion. emily: so what do you think the problems are? danielle brown at google said, when the report was released we care deeply about creating an inclusive culture for everyone and while we're moving in the right direction, we are determined to accelerate progress. google executives are often saying all the right things. >> it is true that they are saying the right things, the problem is they are not doing the hard changes that need to happen within the company that would materially affect making changes to the way they conduct their business. emily: so you helped create a addition with co-worker.org pushing for better work pace policies. ending thi
