. >> again, my name is mark bruno, and through the chair, i would like to comment on commissioner lee's criticism or description of a situation where a mom and pop nonprofit might be negatively affected because a supervisor or a commissioner, an unelected public official might want to do small favors for a small group. i was cochair with mohamed nuru when mayor lee was chairman of the graffiti advisory board. in those days, and i think the same challenge is faced by all commissioners and boards now, it's a virtue in government to reach out to other people. there's no reason that the president of the board of supervisors also has to be associated through her family members for instance, with a small nonprofit, or that a member of this commission should be a member or friends of the board of another nonprofit, so the law should do exactly what it can do best, separate all those interests so we are required as citizens and as commissioners and as elected officials to reach out to new people. what's wrong with having nonnonprofit directors becoming elected officials? isn't that one of the p

it's mark bruno, and the real reason i came tonight was i just wanted to familiarize myself with the ethics commission, because i have an ethics complaint that was filed in september. i won't refer anymore with regards to the complaint execute with reference to this executive director's report. i think one of the things the ethics commission must consider for the sake of the public, people who might be filing ethics complaints, and in my case, it was a conflict of economic interest at the board of appeals, is that without enough staff and without enough resources, what has occurred in my case and might happen in other cases is that we've gone forward with an appeal to the board of supervisors and now currently before the superior court what's called a ceqa case, and as you all know, there's a very strict schedule of how that proceeds. and when you all doing your best work -- ethics staff has been incredibly positive. i get a sense of people who are not over worked, but doing a fantastic job of pretending they're not over worked, and really spending time with people like me, a nonlawy

mark is our current provider. we have one in the hall of justice and the other is out at county jail 5. san bruno. we produce two hot meals and one cold meal. there are numerous diet plans throughout the system. to include such plans as kosher, vegan. a variety of options for people to have. provided meals for them. we also have a contracted dietician who provides support every six months to terms of our practices. and what was really great about hearing about good food purchasing program and being able to connect with them, is the fact that we had our rsp process coming up for the food service provider and as a result of the collaboration and meetings with them that started may of last year, we were able to incorporate the language in the rsp that is going on as we speak. so by the end of this cycle, starting in july of 2018, we should have in place a program where we hold people to what is called the level 1 star level standard of good food purchasing. and in our rsp language we hold them to making sure they complete a baseline assessment within the first 12 months of the contracted period to me
