mark levin wins the democratic primary. he'll run unopposed come november and represent alexandria and small parts of arlington and fairfax county. speaking of alexandria northern virginia bureau chief julie carey is in the studio with us to break all this down tonight. were there signs the mayor was vulnerable? >> well, there has been pent-up discontent over some residents over development in the city, and many don't feel it fits in with the historic character of alexandria. that very motivated bloc of voters blamed mayor euille. news4's camera was the only one there tonight when allison silberberg declared victory and thanked her supporters. >> i'm very honored tonight to stand before you as the next mayor of alexandria. [ cheering ] >> silberberg has been alexandria's vice mayor. she ran on a platform of reining in developers and soliciting more citizen input on decisions on growth. virginia's open primary system where anyone can cast a ballot she was helped by republicans. republicans for silberberg signs dotted some neighborhoods. here is what she thinks the vote sends. >> we need to pursue thoughtful development that will fit in to scale. and we need to address the city's debt which has g
