[applause] very simply, we've not had any confirmed decisions on the budget, but i have bought $3.6 million gap that i have helped plug with the great budget team and the department heads and your input. this is the fourth of 10 town halls on the budget i promised to hold. i have one tomorrow and combined two on saturday and several more next week and then we start making hard decisions, because it is not easy. part of the reason it is not easy -- as we will find out -- it is not just the services. we are killing ourselves with an -- with the runaway pension system. so, i am cooking very hard to plug that -- working very hard to plug up. every week, i need with our labor unions, with our comptroller. we will get to the point in a few weeks that the labor unions and the board of supervisors will a great what we have to do to correct this long term so it does not give us the way it has this year, to the tune of 125 additional -- $125 million. there would not be a reason to hold these to

i want to thank supervisor mark farrell who is working hard to build a compromise that's before you and i hope it's accepted by the project sponsors. i request refinements on a number of issues for the project. first, the building wraps around our property on two sides west and south. it has a pronounced impact and boxes us in. and i would request mitigation of this by simply having bright, light, natural colors, not dark colors like you see on the gym wall here or the row of concrete on the community center wall. i think that will alleviate the fact that south and west sun and light has been removed. these are suggestions of some colors. i'm sure they'll be different. second request has to do with replacing the south and west sun and light being removed by working with the owner at 2745 sutter. next door to us to the east, removing a 40 to 50 foot avocado tree, replanting with smaller trees. the owner will furnish written permission when required by the sponsors and the city. i also have concerns about property line fence and property line retaining wall at booker t. this is the west w

however, i did want to point out that we are in receipt of a letter from supervisor mark farrell that supports a compromised position which i think is a good alternative. it is one that would be supported by the neighbors, from with a i understand, and these -- the site of booker t.'s present facility, there were victorians there before 1953. doesn't make any difference, they were demolished, the present building was built. if you look at the context of the neighborhood, and i know almost all of you are very familiar with it, most of the heights of the buildings are quite a bit smaller than what is proposed. even the larger apartment buildings are not in excess of 40 feet. so the impact is greatest on those who would be to the east side of the building. that is those between sutter and post that will be impacted greatly and considerably more by a building that would be 55 feet as opposed by 45 feet. and i think that's what we're really talking about. the other issue is the parking. and we're only providing 21 offstreet parking places. now, we have a lot of uses here. we're going to ha

farrell? commissioner kim? commissioner mark? commissioner mirkarimi? commissioner wiener? supervisor mirkarimi: please read items 3 and 4. item 3. chair's report. this is an information item.item 4. executive director's report. this is an information item. supervisor mirkarimi: last thursday the executive director and i'm joined edwin lee and federal highway deputies director to officially kick off the sf park program. scott wiener and members of the mta board were also at the event which marks the culmination of a four-year process to bring real time parking information to san francisco. it was a great event recognized by the press around country as a major milestone in terms of how technology can structure solutions for common urban problems like finding curbside parking. the entire demonstration was funded with $20 million of urban partnership money which this authority was able to obtain from the federal government in 2007 as part of the negotiations over the funding plan for doral drive, now presidio parkway, which at the time included a proposal. the proposal was a f

supervisor farrell: thank you, supervisor chiu, mark. i know you have been in district two, and i know people have appreciated working together. that being said, there are still a lot of concerns, so i went to flesh this out with you and see what you envision happening. >> sure. an example where we have actually gone through the dpw process. this was in district 1. we have an existing cross connect box. we met with the condominium association. they very much wanted this, a competitive choice. we said we would ideally like to place it next to your existing cabinet, but we can work within 300 feet to find a place. the existing cabinet is off of the sidewalks and behind a hedge row of bushes. we were able to go in and place a second cabinet. we went through and met with them. we met with the neighbors and put a public notice before we filed with dpw and got their input if there were any complaints or concerns, and once there was none, we filed with dpw, but that kind of interaction with the community, it need not be next to the existing box
