let's bring in mark geragos. hello, sir. >> how are you, brook?i'm well, so we've talked through the purpose of the hearing today, what i want to hear from you is, why is stormy daniels even in this courtroom period. is this totaling spectacle? >> it's so that cnn and the other cable news networks will cover this, there's no other reason for her to be there. other than michael is a shrewd culture of the news, he knows if just he shows up, there's not going to be this media coverage. >> this judge, this woman allowed for avanati to speak last friday. he told me, it's very possible that this judge today will let stormy daniels address the courtroom. >> i doubt she would let stormy daniels address the courtroom. i can see where her attorney would have a basis to address it it would surprise me if she would let stormy do it. most article three judges tried to avoid the spectacles. but i think today she -- my guess is, this judge will be focused on whether or not they can identify specific issues and other clients and legal work. >> we've gotten some s

joining me now, cnn legal analyst mark geragos and gloria brown marshall.ring what you made of the verdict today? >> well, this issue of consent is a very important one and it is one that is part not just of rape itself but of assault. is this woman capable of giving consent if she's been drugged. is she capable of saying yes to sexual relations? is that relationship consensual, and i think that's the core of the case, the core of the charges and the jury found, no, she did not give consent because she had been drugs and it was not consensual sex or consensual relations. >> mark, were you surprised that cosby was allowed to walk out of court? >> absolutely. in state court when you get convicted of a serious felony, 999 times out of 1,000 the judge is going to remand you. so, yes, i was surprised. i think that gives him some glimmer of hope in terms of the sentencing. but at the same time i don't think that this was unexpected. usually the common wisdom is that on a second trial, the advantage is to the prosecution. and in this case, i think that they made a

i want to bring in mark geragos and areva martin. you know the particulars of what happened today. won? >> actually you have to give cohen credit to this extent. he didn't lose -- when the judge tells you there's gaping holes and i expected that from judge otaro, that doesn't give you a lot of comfort but they live to fight another day. almost as if the judge here in the southern district had said bring michael cohen in here. it's the same thing. lawyers can't just go in there and say by the way, judge, i've got to represent to you a, b, c and d. you've got to have the client. they live to fight another day is the best way to put it. >> areva, what do you think? >> i think michael cohen went away feeling victorious as he should. this was an effort -- i'm sorry -- stormy daniels' attorney michael avenatti went away feeling victorious because michael cohen has been trying to delay this case for 90 days and he didn't get what he requested from the court. and now he's got to sign the declaration saying he believes if he makes any statement in this case he could incriminate himself. bas

mark geragos, what do you think? biggest mistake is cosby never should have let monahan lead his case. he's well respected there. it's always tough and i never recommend, i get asked this all the time to parachute in to state court case when is you're an out of towner. you don't know the nuances and he had a win, you know, more than ten years ago in jackson, but you can't be a one-trick pony and just come in and parachute in to some jurisdiction. in a case like this, jury selection is everything. if you don't know the nuances of the philadelphia suburbs and who lives where. and then this idea that he was going to take no prisoners basically with her and with the others and kind of, you know, one speed or one size fits all with witnesses, i just say this is not surprising to me. i said it early on that i didn't -- i said last time i thought last time it would be hung and i thought brian did a marvelous job. but this case was just a textbook disaster from start to finish on this trial. >> so he's not going to be awaiti

mark geragos, "the new york times" reported that president trump's legal advisers have come to the conclusione cohen investigation poses a greater and more imminent threat to the president than mueller's. do you agree, and what should the president's legal team be doing? >> i do agree with that. i think this, especially if it's a doj investigation that's been going on for months, and the southern district is not just the "a" team, that would give me pause if i were the client. i would have had him there on friday, because i think the judge wants to hear from him. one of the problems with this setup, if you will, on search warrants that are executed on attorneys' offices is in the federal system, they don't have the same kind of system that they do in some states. for instance, if this were california, in the state court, they would have had what's called a special master, an independent lawyer or retired judge come along with the cops to sit there so that you could assert, michael cohen could say, wait a second, this stuff you just scooped up, this is attorney/client, and this may be from ano

mark geragos, let me get your reaction of what we just heard from gloria allred. >>well, it's not my first rodeo with gloria and having her exalt or be depressed when you go outside. i'll give her a pass for that. at some point i think it's not properly to be cheered when somebody is convicted. it's a little unseemly but i understand where she's coming from. >> laura, what do you think? >> i think it was an opportunity of gloria capitalizing on the moment, should the victim speak or should she take more questions? however, it doesn't chang te th fact that a jury in a public court of law who has seen the evidence and her statement saying how many women does it take to convicted and believe the women and she said that number is four. normally you would not allow somebody who was not a part of the immediate case to be able to come in and tell their story if it's wholly unrelated. you have the kind of m.o. and pattern of behavior here you may see here. that's why this is so important. i do think the statements made today in front of the podium largely mimic and track

they're being sued by my friend, mark geragos, now for colluding against colin kaepernick.ve a pr problem. maybe this is an opportunity for the nfl to come straight. do the right thing. meet with these women. >> and we hope that they would. because dialogue is very good and it's very apparent that these women want to bring about change. it's not about the money. but if it does move forward, the case moves forward, how does this -- does this weaken their case? >> i don't think so. there's been a lot of discussion that they're only settling the case because they don't have a strong case. i, again, take them at their word. i think they want real change. i don't think the suit is about money. and, if roger goodell makes the, i don't think, very smart decision not to meet with these women, their case will go forward. they could get a lot of money. remember, we are in different times now. me too. time's up. women are empowered right now. >> if you're the nfl's lawyer, what are you telling them to do? >> take that meeting, take that meet, take that meeting. >>> what's coming up on
