get to bloomberg's mark gurman for more, let'sget to bloomberg's mark gurman from l.a..l us more about this. mark: this is something that we first heard about a few weeks ago when peloton announced in an email and on their website to owners of the tread plus treadmill, that they determined a young child died in an incident related to the treadmill. at the time we had discovered that that death was not a one-off occurrence in terms of injury. there was another young child who was also badly hurt in an incident related to the treadmill. now we have u.s. officials saying nearly 40 incidents have recently been reported regarding the tread plus. these incidents seem to be related to children and pets. obviously those are two things you would not want near any particular treadmill. but it appears that the combination of peloton's strong brand and a higher rate of injuries over other treadmills being attributed to the tread plus itself is what is really raising eyebrows, with these u.s. officials and consumers. it appears buspar -- thus far that peloton is pushing back on the i

bloomberg tip's -- bloomberg tech's mark gurman -- mark joins us now with more.you tell us about the event so far this year. how with the rollout? mark: wwdc is apple's most important event of the year. this is where they outline their roadmap for the next 18 months or so. it always gives an indicator of new hardware to come. this year, unless apple shows an early preview of their upcoming headset, i think it is going to be a somewhat muted event. not expecting major updates to ios or mac oh. i think the updates will be on the more moderate side this year. perhaps an update to the software that runs the apple watch and the appletv software, but there is also a bunch of new max in the pipeline, the new -- new macs in the pipeline. perhaps the developer conference will be a good time to usher those in. overall i think it will be an exciting event for the apple faithful, but i'm not anticipating anything major unless there is that preview of the headset. emily: how do you anticipate apple events will change going forward? i mean, will they always be remote, or will

let's bring in mark gurman, who covers the company for us. foremost, what are you expecting at the event? >> thank you for having me. the big thing will be the new ipad pros. this will be the first update to the ipad pro line in little over a year. they released the current one in mid-march last year. the new thing is a new processor on par with the much faster chipsets. there is going to be an upgraded port that can sync faster and a much improved camera system. but the big thing is actually going to be an improved display on the larger of the two models, with what is called a mini led display. that allows ultimately a better user experience. other things in the pipeline are new imac desktops as well as a product called air tags. it's like one of those tile gizmos that you slap onto your bag or wallet and you can locate it. caroline: meanwhile, why is all of this significant for apple at the moment? we always know what is so important about innovation. what do you think they are trying to demonstrate? >> nothing you are seeing next week is g

let's get the details from our tech reporter, mark gurman. this was a period where apple crushed it, despite some of the downside when it comes to supply change, retail stores being affected. this was the pandemic play that continues to deliver for the company. mark: yeah, the apple did incredible across the board. all-time record, nearly $17 billion in revenue for their growing services segment. very nice quarter for the iphone in march. the ipad did particularly well. the mac top $9 billion for an all-time record. in terms of downside, they did say that next quarter is due to take a three -- a $3 billion to $4 billion revenue hit. given continued demand from schools and work from home users. in addition to some constraints you are seeing on the semiconductor side, which i know is the buzz word of the last month or so for these tech companies. basically every sector right now in terms of chips. kathleen: when we look at what comes out of tim cook's conversation with investors and analysts, it seems there are so many positive things that are

bloomberg tech's mark gurman has the latest in how the hearing has played out. ou tell us, mark? mark: i thought the hearing resulted in some compelling testimony from match group and spotify. i did not particularly find apple's chief compliance officer's responses very compelling. i don't believe he gave very direct answers. i believe there was a lot to be desired. i think this goes to show you perhaps why apple did not want to participate in this hearing initially. i thought they were basically put into a corner in some respects. that is not to say some of their points were not great. i think there were some key issues related to tile and the competition between the air tags and tile's item tracker that went unanswered. there was a bit of a debate in the middle of the hearing about why apple does not take a cut of the revenue from uber while it takes a cut of the revenue from tinder, given that both of those apps facilitate in person experiences, one being a date and the other being a car ride. we were basically shown today that this will potentially be a long-
