let's cross to mark gurman. what do you think of this new galaxy? think vulnerable's are getting cooler and cooler. conceptually, they are an excellent new category. obviously, they had some durability issues early on but it seems samsung is robbing those and it is surprising to me that samsung is already on its third iteration of foldable's. it seems to be repositioning its entire line of unaffordable's while apple, google, and others are three years away from launching their first foldable devices. it's interesting to see how far ahead samsung truly is on this. haidi: we did a bit of a pole. so many people saying if apple made a foldable, they would buy it straightaway. it is the trendsetting kind of status of apple. does this really take away market share from people who might otherwise buy an iphone? mark: i don't necessarily think iphone users are going to flee apple for foldable phones. what i do think is that at the same time, apple does need one of these. these are going to be a really big deal. not yet, but a few years into the future, and w

joining us for this story, mark gurman. what changes did they address to address this uproar. rk: they provided the threshold of how many images you would need for the alarm bells to ring. it is now 30, about 30, and it is variable, so that may change by the time the feature launches, or change elsewhere in the future. they will have multiple sources for the database. the main source originally was going to be an organization, a u.s.-based designed to combat abuse and explicit images related to children. now there will be multiple sources for the database. apple is not saying who else are where else they will be stationed, under which government, but saying there will be more than just the one. the third thing they are saying is they will have an independent auditor to verify the contents of its database, in response to concerns that people believe a government or organizations may place non-job-related images in the database to flag the devices of users, depending on the country they live in. emily: i spoke with folks who said from double enforcement side said they are thrille

let's talk to mark gurman for the details. he new phone going to give apple a run for its money? mark: this is in a different category from the iphone. the new phones launched today. these are higher end, premium, foldable phones. apple is not in the space. i don't anticipate that for two years or three years. this is a different ballgame. they will not appeal to the same people who would buy an iphone. that price drop on the flip 3 is significant, about $500. the fold, the bigger model with the the larger display is getting a couple of hundred dollar price drop, so the pricing is most of the story today. >> apple does not have skin in the foldable game. this has been plagued by technical issues and consumers ambivalent going back to the style. is there big demand? mark: i don't think so. i don't think there is huge demand for foldables. most people are starting with, not starting with the foldable phones. it does appear that samsung is trying to transition its phoneline to foldables, so it is possible that samsung will be an e
