let's go to mark meredith with more. mark? >> hi, neil.e the federal affidavit against the former president unsealed but he understands why it could compromise the on going investigation if it's unsealed and redactions could be necessary. today's hearing lasted a little more than an hour. we heard lawyers for the justice department argue that releasing an affidavit could compromise not only the investigation but some of the witnesses cooperating with the government, its investigating right now how so many classified and top secret documents ended up at mar-a-largo after the president left office. the former president is calling for the release of the entire affidavit. he doesn't want things redacted. he wants it all. we got a statement from his spokesperson. they said trump made it clear his views that the american people should see the unredacted affidavit related to mar-a-largo. the judge rejected the cynical attempt to hide the whole affidavit from americans. no redactions should be necessary and the whole affidavit should be released.
