let's discuss this with john avlon, governor mark sanford, and maria cardona.with you, governor. i want to talk about what is this? why is this happening? what is the point that abbott is trying to make? >> he's trying to make, again, another cardinal rule of politics is that all politics are local. tip o'neill's old saying. and it's true, and so, you know, 4,000 immigrants a day are coming across the border in texas. and to give new york a little taste of what they're experiencing down in texas, to send 100 folks, and we're talking, again, 100 versus 4,000 a day, i don't think is that big a deal. i think it's great politics. i think from a texas standpoint it's going to play very well for abbott. i think it can make it just a touch more real to folks who say we're a sanctuary city, but now maybe they're saying we're not so sanctuary because we don't want your immigrants from texas. >> i think what you're hearing from adams is we're overwhelmed. what are your thoughts on this? >> i think what abbott is doing is cruel. mayor adams is right about that. it is inhu

no one is putting up any statues to flake at the capitol, and muttered something similar about mark sanfordd governor of south carolina. so how do you respond to that mindset? >> i think it is so shallow. look, bianna, when you -- whenever it is, whether you're in news, business, whether you're in politics, whether you're in sports, when you follow your conscience and stand, that means you check with other people to say am i off target, she is clearly not off target. and you got to be prepared to live with the results. but you would be very proud of yourself. i'm very proud of the stuff that i've done in my political career. i couldn't feel any better and i hope it has been a good role model and example for other people. that's what she's doing and the same thing with jeff flake, he's ambassador to turkey. they're not going to build a monument to anybody. that's not what you're doing it for. you're not doing it to build a monument. you're doing it to be true to yourself and in some sense true to a higher power that you believe at the end will ask you what did you do with the gifts i gave yo
