mark tamayo. it might just be fair to say that about everyone in the county is affected in one way or another by these fires. >> absolutely. gasia just have to remind myself, this is january, and we're talking about these extreme fires burning in southern california. and i wish i could say there would be a pattern change that could really help out the fire crews. there will be some changes, but in terms of fire danger completely going away, that will not be the case. the red flag fire warning is in place until 6 p.m. friday, but i suspect into the weekend, or at least into next week, we will have more warnings because we're going to have those gusty offshore winds stick around into next week. right now, though, at least the forecast, you can see winds gusting around 50 to 65 miles an hour. when these fires started, we had winds gusting to 80 to 100 miles an hour. so the winds have backed off. but still we have strong winds and it's a dry weather pattern as well. here's a satellite showing you the

let's go now to meteorologist mark tamayo for our final look at our forecast. hi, mark. >> hi there. christina. yeah. unsettled weather as you were talking about severe weather for portions of northern california. the national weather service will head out to that zone tomorrow. and as a result, we'll get more information, more of a confirmation. but it is already a confirmed tornado. as you can see the location. you can see just to give you some bearing here, there's red bluff redding and just to the east of cottonwood with that tornado report. here is the radar imagery from earlier today. this all happened during the 5:00 hour. so that's when we had the tornado warning issued. and then it actually expired at 6:00. and thankfully no damage or injuries to report. showing you rainfall for us here in the bay area, those numbers adding up. so we had kind of a soggy friday across parts of the bay area, especially up in the north bay. santa rosa 0.46, san francisco 0.18. and here is the plan this weekend. it will be dry, but it won't be completely sunny. we have some

we'll bring in our meteorologist, mark tamayo, now. mark the first tornado of the year. yeah. >> in california. who would have guessed? >> yeah, definitely. yeah. and it was erupted quickly during the 5:00 hour without warning in place. so the tornado warning from around 515 ish to around 6:00. and the national weather service will be heading to that area tomorrow to get more information. but to survey the damage or just what? the survey of the area. so this was the location of that storm report. just to give you an idea, here you can see red bluff, cottonwood redding there. and there is the location of that tornado from earlier today. so this all happened during the 5:00 hour. so this is the radar imagery between four and about 6:00. and you can see all that bright yellow and red showing up on the radar right about here. and that is linked up with that tornado that we were seeing visually on, on that tower camera. so still that thankfully that warning expired at 6:00 this evening and no longer that threat out there. now, here in the bay area, you can see santa rosa 0.46

meteorologist mark tamayo joins us now with a look at what's in store for our bay area forecast. hey, mark. hi, there. greg. >> yeah, another system headed our way tomorrow morning. first thing tomorrow morning up in the north bay, then gradually spreading to the south. we had a break in the rainfall for today, but more rain for us and more snow in the sierra. in fact, just kind of a carry on with that. the snow survey in the sierra. you can see the breakdown for the north to the central portions of the sierra and the southern sierra. so clearly, all those atmospheric rivers really having an impact on northern californians, translating to these numbers as well. statewide average 108% of average. and we will continue to build the snowpack as we do move into friday. here is a look at the projections here. and snow levels actually coming down to possibly 5000 to 5500ft. and a winter storm warning begins tomorrow morning, 7 a.m, running until 10:00 tomorrow night. and snowfall could be around six to possibly 12in. so this will be a winter storm warning for the west slopes of the sierr
