the thing that i asked thompson just a few minutes ago was, these leaks from mark meadows' text messagesif they undercut the work at all. really what it's doing is putting some of the headlines that the committee might want to control out into the public before the committee has even gotten a chance to write the public narrative on this. thompson cast those fears aside when he was talking to me earlier. certainly, it's something i think a lot of democrats that i talked to are concerned about is the idea that could they have what happened with the mueller report and bill barr stealing the narrative on that, is that what could be happening through some of the leaks we have seen recently? the chairman dismissing that. speaking more candidly than we have heard him about what the hearings could look like and, of course, the sheer number of them. eight of them starting in june. we don't know how long they will go for, but eight is a lot. >> yeah. especially if they do them every week or for eight days in a row. we don't know how that will lay out. we are not seeing video of chairman thompson t

in november of 2021, mark meadows, trump's former chief of staff, began cooperating with the january 6th committee. congressman benny thompson, the committee chair, said at the time, that meadows produced records to the committee and will soon appear for an initial deposition. well, meadows never did appear before the committee, as he stopped cooperating shortly thereafter. he was subsequently found in contempt of congress and refer to the justice department for a possible criminal charge. but the records he turned over, including thousands of his own text messages, well, they paint a clear picture of the republican effort to steal the 2020 election. they were text from donald trump junior to meadows, laying out a strategy to overturn the election. there were text from a ginni thomas, wife of supreme court justice clarence thomas, imploring mark meadows to overturn the election. and now we have reports of nearly 100 texts from meadows and republican senator mike lee of utah, and congressman chip roy of texas that, quote, reveal an aggressive attempt to lobby, and courage and eventually warned the white house over its efforts

thompson is referring to, for requests. we have seen text messages between gop lawmakers and former white house chief of staff, mark meadows. we have seen audio recordings that surfaced of kevin mccarthy. it's showing the panel knows there's knowledge from the lawmakers as to what went on before, during and after january 6th as well as the president's thinking during that time period. this is really just them trying to tie up the loose ends ahead of the public hearings, katy. >> jake, what more can you tell us on that? >> i would guess, katy, what would bring this to life and what the committee is going to venture to do is bring in some of the former trump administration white house aides that have been helpful to the committee behind the scenes. many times there are hosts of trump administration aides that have helped to draw out the road map for what happened on january 6th, the planning and the president's mind-set. all that will be super interesting and i help that will come to life. again, the most important thing i would say is going to be having some of those former trump administration officials who have been helpin
