marla tallez joins us live.ave been talking to riders this morning. >> reporter: laura, i have. all of them, more than a dozen riders, they all seem to be happy with caltrain services. that's good news. so far, so good this morning. the underlying problem is the aging fleet as laura mentioned. caltrain spokesperson tells the san francisco examiner 20 of the 29 trains are more than 25 years old. their life expectancy is 25-30 years. they are definitely at the end of the line. this week, it is showing. take a look at some of the problems on monday. a speedometer failed on a northbound train. that led up to 20-minute delays. another train had brake issues. just yesterday, a train died on the peninsula all together. more brake problems for another northbound train. this is not turning away riders i've talked to. in fact, one man tells me he switched to caltrain in july when b.a.r.t. went on strike and he hasn't turned back. >> the train is smoother. it is a better ride. it's on time more than b.a.r.t. is and it is c

i'm marla tallez in for jon kelley. >>> happening now, the clock has struck six and an elderly couple is facing eviction at this very moment. they are refusing to leave their home they raised their seven kids over the last few decades. their apartment is located on the corner of jackson and larkin streets in san francisco. "today in the bay's" christie smith joins us live from that location. have they officially been evicted yet? >> good morning to you, marla. so far, no eviction activity. we haven't seen any sheriff deputies out here at all. in theo, it could happen at any moment on a family who has been living here for 34 years raising their family in a two-bedroom apartment. they say that the building's new owner came in and told them, look, you are being evicted under something called the ellis act. they say they are standing their ground. gum gi lee says, no, she is standing up to a system that puts developers over people. the 74-year-old says she has raised seven kids with her husband in a two-bedroom, rent-controlled apartment here on jackson street. she says she can't afford t

. >>> i'm marla tallez in for john kell wi kelly. students at a south bay high school have learned a popular math teacher has been arrested accused of having sex with a minor. bob, he is already finding some support online. >> reporter: good morning to you, marla. yes. we have seen some tweets in support of hugo cortes guzman that paint him as a positive role model for students. santa clara police have a different opinion. yesterday, late afternoon, they took him in for questioning. after the interview, they arrested him for allegedly having sex with a minor. whether that person is a student at santa clara high, police will not say. cortes guzman teaches math at this school and is also involved in avid, a program that helps mostly low-income students prepare for college. the district sent a letter letting parents know about the arrest alerting them that he has been placed on leave. the letter asking parents not to jump to any conclusions. that he is presumed innocent. if anyone has any more information about this case, to contact pol

marla tallez joins us live with more on what we've learned about this overnight blast. >>> i just learned that the building that was hit early this morning once housed the u.s. consulate decades ago, until the late '60s. we have video that shows the extent of damage. officials say a car bomb is to blame. this bomb went off at dawn and damaged buildings next door, including the benghazi branch of the libyan central bank. so far, no reports of death despite the extensive damage. several people that happened to be walking by are said to be hurt but with just minor injuries. at this point, no one is claiming responsibility for this. as john just mentioned, it has been exactly one year since u.s. ambassador, chris stevens, along with two navy s.e.a.l.s and a computer specialist were killed. counter terrorism officials say de extremist2n groups are behind t attack including an ansar al sa. no one is under arrest or in custody one year later. the fbi is still very much committed to finding these terrorists. we will have much more coming up in my next report at about 6:50, plus a statement from t

i'm marla tallez.he first time since learning a popular teacher has been arrested. santa clara police arrested hugo cortes guzman after questioning him on allegations of unlawful sex with a minor. he is a teacher at santa clara high school. the school sent a letter to parents and students last night informing him of the arrests. the school says cortes guzman is placed on leave pending the investigation and asks that no one form unfounded conclusions. federal transportation officials have opened an investigation into asiana airlines and whether it broke laws intended to help passengers. under u.s. law, asiana was required to post a toll-free number within an hour of the crash to gather and distribute information to families. the airline was also required to provide transportation and lodging to family members who are coming to be with injured loved ones. >>> it certainly feels like fall outside. let's get a look at the forecast with meteorologist, christina loren. >> hey, good morning. >> good morning t
