marla tellez live near 101 in palo alto with all the details.ood morning. >> reporter: jon, good morning. we're south of the embarcadero road exit in palo alto. 101 traffic is directly behind us. you already know how congested it can be on 101, on the peninsula, and into the south bay, well, good news is, i just hung up the phone with a spokesperson for the vta and she tells me a plan is under development to build double car pool lanes in both directions of 101 from embarcadero road in palo alto to beyond the 101/85 interchange in mountain view. when all is said and done, this means there'll be a total of 12 lanes in both directions compared to eight now. now eventually she says the car pool lanes will also be converted into express lanes so solo drivers will have the option to use the lanes for a price. that price is determined by the level of congestion. the more congestion, the higher the price. and this plan falls under the silicon valley express lanes projects that includes widening interstate 880 from highway 237 to highway 101. vta offici

i'm marla tellez.g goodbye to a loved one killed in last week's oikos university shooting is harder than expected for one oakland family, katleen ping's loved ones celebrated her life at the bay area baptist church yesterday. they hoped to bury her after the service, but legal red tape is delaying the release of her body. her remains are still at the coroner's office. the sheriff's department says the law requires ping's husband to sign for the remains, but he's in the philippines. ping's husband telling her parents he is working on getting to the bay area to make the proper arrangements. now, the sheriff's department says it must give him until the 14th of april to claim her remains. after that her parents can step in and move forward with the burial. >>> well, a rainy start to your wednesday. lots going on out there. let's check everything, the weather and the roads with meteorologist christina loren. >> the two goes hand in hand this morning. good morning to you, marla. good morning to you at home.
