kristin fisher is in capitol heights with more on what police are saying about the murder of marquel ross. >> reporter: police still have no suspects and no motive. 24 hours after markel ross was shot and killed on the sidewalk less than a mile from his high school. he was just walking his regular one and a half-mile route to school when he was gunned down, his books and school bag were just scattered across the sidewalk. this is an 18-year-old who was very well known at this high school. he was an honor student, an rotc, a member of the track team. he was also part of a modeling club. prince george's county police cadets scoured every inch of the ground for clues while detectives interviewed his friends and teachers at central high school. his family devastated. they say they have no idea why anyone would want to kill their marckel. >> he was a kind person. i just want to know why they did it and what made them think about it. >> he was a good child, a very bright child. he made honor roll every quarter last year. we had been talking about him going to college. >> that was marckel's moth
