they banded together, about 90 of them, eventually wrote a gmail to the marriott -- email to the marriotttive in charge of loyalty and said this isn't right. three weeks later, marriott puts says you are right. they did it knowledge. . it was a can -- >> it was a concession. they open up this tear that can only be attained in 2018 through the integration -- tier that can only be attained in 2018 through the integration. they said if you spent an amount of time in the starwood program, you're going to get the same thing. i'm not sure how viable this lifetime status actually is. part of this whole case is that people want to know they are the most elite of the elite. they announced it. i talked to the guy that had organized this effort to lobby marriott. singapore, hes in said well, it's great that they gave it to us, but part of me thinks that maybe this was a problem that marriott created intentionally, just so they would have something to fix. >> we go over now to our politics section. you have a record number of democrats out fundraising the republican opponents. that is rare. we will s

marriott has already made some concessions like the late checkout. anecdote at the end of your story involving an spger who books a lot of travel over the course of the year who was upset that he was not going to get a concession. tell us that story in brief because i think that is an interesting window into this whole process. patrick: as part of the integration, marriott created a special type of lifetime status. in other words, if you spend 10 years as a platinum member of the marriott rewards program, which is what they called their old loyalty program, you would get lifetime status. you don't have to spend 75 nights with marriott every year anymore. you still get a lot of the benefits without having to deal -- without having to do the travel. it is highly coveted by members. again, it goes back to this idea of i'm spending all this time on the road, and what am i getting out of it? well i don't have to travel 75 , nights a year for the rest of my life. i'm going to do it now and reap the benefits forever. julie: and still get the perks. patrick:

marriott down 12.5% >> first of all, marriott is best in breed. full disclosure, a stock i own for most of 2017 i sold it. it had a poor earnings report last time around and the guidance in this latest earnings report is not a good one that's for sure. when you're talking about reduced unit growth of 5% versus the expectation. >> is it bruised, not broken >> here's the problem with this call is that we all know it's best in breed. we want to buy ilt because we believe there's going to be a significant turn around. the problem is the sentiment surrounding is so overwhelmingly bullish. the average price $149 look at just today it's only up 1.5%. this is a stock coming off a 52-week low. this stock should be performing far more than it is today. i think the bullish sentiment is the problem and it's what holds me back from going in and buying the stock. i want to get back in. i believe in the company i believe in the fundamentals, lie tick the long-term vision and they're best in breed. >> you're a used to story, also. you used to own calls. >> i've o

first our grand partners are marriott and hilton. the two companies we primarily execute various different brands within that segment from luxury to select serve. our recent projects we completed a year ago talking about nine years or ten years in terms of development project. we started a project just next to the beringer winery, we went through the process and entitlements and opened the project in march of 2017. that's under the luxury collection brand. same brand that the palace here in san francisco would be under marriott. that's a 68-room high-end luxury five-star resort that we opened up and it's a little over a year that we have been open on that project. so that's in the luxury sector. we primarily play in a full service to upper and select serve space. so that would be within hyatt full service, courtyard by marriott, residence and so forth. we just broke down ground on golden round arena, 175-room hotel there. those are the two projects that would be more in line with the difficulty and the complexity of the project for y
