martha johnson, in the past what are you done for a living? >> i have done a lot of different things. about two-thirds of my great has been in the corporate world. i've been in business large and small, automotive, architecture, consulting. and about a third of my great has been in the public sector, a public service side. i worked all the years for president clinton in that administration and i've a couple years serving president obama. so it's been a little bit of everything and it has given me i think and real understanding of the large and small organizations and their cultures and their effectiveness and performance. >> what was your last job at the federal government? >> was asked the ministry of the general services administration, which is a massive infrastructure organization about $90 billion, and in scope and size, and we handled real estate, i.t. travels, charge cards, supplies for the government across the whole government, executive, judiciary, legislative branches as well as date, local relief work, tribal. so it is the epicente

ron johnson coming in and signing the deal with martha stewart, trying to insert these stores to trytraffic. they worked so badly. he says you have suffered enough. >> kind of interesting. in terms of macy's not being able to show any kind of loss on their end. they could not show loss of sales or anything. >> it is unclear. jcpenney clearly was not gaining anything from this relationship. that is the thing here. by breaking the exclusive macy's had. both of these companies still carry the products. jcpenney will end its relationship with martha stewart years earlier than planned. but they both still carry the stuff right now. that is another anti-climatic element. >> is macy's going to keep this going? >> before the special referee, yes. macy's said we are very happy with this ruling. >> but give us something. theyey would be happy if got monetary damages. if you look at the dichotomy and companies have performed. macy's has struggled to some extent and closed some stores, relative to the rest of retail, macy's has done well. back froms crawling the depths of underperformance, even

johnson took over. he wanted to have stores w ithin a store anchored by martha stewart living products. that failed. was in the wrong. he says the facts underscore how over the top the efforts were in jcp's pursuit of mslo. the evidence compels me to find out that they were in the wrong. there was an ethical and legal breach in the situation. what happens now? are happy but the judge declined to rule on any damages, he kicked back to an independent committee to figure out whether jcp will have to pay any monetary amount to macy's in this case. >> sound like this is not the means. it by any >> it is not the very end, we have the conclusion. both stores for the moment still carry the products. jcpenney's relationship with martha stewart will be more brief than that of macy's. if you look at how the two companies have done, certainly the martha stewart partnership did not give jcpenney any sort of edge. the company has really been struggling. in its most recent quarter it did see a rebound in sales. we will see if that continues. macy's has remained an out performer on a relative basis when it comes to
