i want to go to let's go back to martha raddatz in washington. martha, i know that you've been talking to not only law enforcement sources, political sources, but also folks in the military who were describing what they heard with those gunshots. we got some more information from the district attorney there, the suspect who was shot and killed. and we're not sure how we're careful to, you know, to point that out, was on a rooftop adjacent to the venue, what does that tell you, and what's the reaction you're getting from your sources? >> well, it certainly was a ways away from president trump. and that in in the beginning, when i started talking to people who are familiar with weapons and who heard that gunfire on the tape said they were certain it was probably a ways away from the actual venue outside the security zone. and it sounds like that that has proven to be true. there were several shots you could hear, and they were very distinct, at least 2 or 3, possibly more shots. and we don't know yet whether we were hearing not just the shooter, but

let's go back to martha raddatz. martha, you've been talking to sources, also a military sources, and you have some new information. what you're learning about the weapon. >> well, we know from our own reporting from aaron katersky and others here at abc that they believe it was an ar 15 and that the shooter got off eight rounds talking to a military source who said it is the same thing as an m4, which they use in the military. we train to shoot at our ranges out to 300m without optics or a scope. a good shooter can easily shoot further with an optic that's about 330 yards, and it's believed the shooter was 200 to 300 yards ou. this military officer said the 300 yards is definitely in rang. not an easy shot, but 100% in range. and this is very sobering wit, he said. i am surprised he didn't hit him. we do know that his ear was grazed and not certain exactly how that happened at this point, although donald trump said he believed it was a bullet going by him. but i am surprised he didn't hit him. this this military offi

our chief global affairs correspondent martha raddatz is tracking this for us and what the pentagon isning. good morning to you, martha. >> reporter: good morning, robin. this is provocative and unprecedented. for the first time ever, chinese bombers were intercepted off the coast of alaska. the two chinese military aircraft, along with two russian bombers, were flying in international air space, but once the u.s. and canada detected the bombers, they closely tracked them and sent u.s. and canadian fighter jets to intercept them. norad said this was not seen as a direct threat, but with joe biden officially a lame duck president, adversaries are bound to try and take advantage of nap it clearly shows the growing cooperation between russia and china in the arctic region, which the commander of norad has said is a very big concern. guys? >> rebecca: a large concern there. okay, martha. thank you. we turn now to president biden's scheduled meeting with israeli prime minister benjamin netanyahu after the israeli prime minister's speech to congress, defending the war in gaza, with protester

our chief global affairs leader martha raddatz joins us now. ese talks come at a critical time in negotiations on a possible cease fire and release of hostages. >> reporter: this is one of the most delicate foreign policy issues any politician faces. it is the first one that kamala harris has had to take on as the democrats presumptive nominee. the meeting followed a lengthy meeting between president biden and netanyahu. biden pushed to end the war humanely and bring the hostages home. but it was harris who took center stage after her 40-minute session with netanyahu, strongly backing israel's right to defend itself, but saying bluntly that far too many innocent civilians have been killed, calling the situation in gaza devastating. at the same time, criticizing protesters who burned a flag and shouted anti-israel slogans here in washington. later today netanyahu will meet with donald trump at mar-a-lago. trump told fox news israel should end this war quickly because it has been decimated by the publicity. gio? >> gio: martha, thank you very much
