martin shooting. >> we want justice! we want justice! >> this was the scene in columbia heights. protestors demanding justice in the shooting death of the florida teenager. fox 5's karen gray houston is monitoring the situation from the satellite center and joins us now. >> in trayvon's hometown of sanford, florida, tonight the reverend jesse jackson called the tragedy a national sickness and urged residents to vote for city officials who would bring justice to trayvon martin. crowds turned out in sanford for yet another rally and at a town hall meeting there martin's mother made an impassioned plea for new information disputing police claims that the teen-ager viciously beat zimmerman before the shooting. martin's father said it's unfair for drummed up reports to be made after trayvon's death about marijuana residue being found in his book bag and jesse jackson called on officials to do the right thing. >> we seek healing today and just as the redeeming force for the right to vote, i want you to do a bigger than than just mourn. i want you to be a redeeming force for justice in america. i want this, the home of howard thurmond, to be the place where hand and heart come to
