martin o'malley has come out saying let's not hurry, maybe this is not a good idea changing the law. >> this is something you see virtually with every person, in the second half of their term, and whether o'malley breaks with the president whether it is on the economy or something else. but yet he is not in an easy spot here, and yet the reality is what we've seen is that house republicans -- this group of house republicans are not going to typically just sign off on billions more in spending without getting something that they believe is a priority. so this is not an easy negotiation for a president who frankly -- let's be honest, not like he ever had a warm relationship with congress. but after the "so sue me" remark and the lawsuit, it seems to me we are at close to the bottom of the relationship, if not at it. >> and sam, i wonder if you know anything about this. the figure that was bandied about before the request was $2 billion. the $4 billion is -- any amount -- five dollars would have seemed high to house republicans, right? but why not manage expectations if you're in the wh

governor martin o'malley of maryland, many people think he may have an interest in running for president. tell us about the story. he's gotten himself into difficulty with the white house and his opinion on this. what happened? >> friday he came out and said that the white house should not be speeding up deportations and not change the law and he said we shouldn't send these kids away and send them back to certain death. well, he made that statement in front of reporters at the national governors association meeting. soon thereafter he got a call from the white house and a senior aide to president obama and they were not happy with his comments on that. and then suddenly the story got leaked yesterday that governor o'malley did not want to have these children in a facility in western maryland so he said, no, that's not the right facility. his aides have pushed back saying they could look at other facilities or the governor would like to see the kids placed with families but it became this not in my backyard scenario but you can see the rift here even in democrats and how to handle this s

elizabeth warren, joe biden, martin o'malley, people that might jump into a campaign they are starting off i think farther behind where barack obama was in part because hillary clinton has done a pretty good job getting democrats behind her. i think the key moment was actually accepted barack obama's offer to be secretary of state, a big knock against her and her husband. they were out for themselves. that was something shared not only by republicans and democrats. when she decided to work for him and served him fairly loyally in his cabinet i think that made a lot of democrats convinced she could put something above her own immediate interest. you and i both know the long-range interest may do what she did, appeal to democratic constituencies at least in part. interesting to watch that. democrats are very, very unified behind her. jon: i know you focus on her and democrats in this particular piece but on the republican side who do you see as her greatest threat? which republican stacked up against hillary givesser had the biggest problem? >> i think really exciting race to watch right

democratic governor martin o'malley of maryland is one of those politicians opposed to sending thoseids back home to, quote, certain death, his words, certain death. but he also does not want to send them to a facility in western maryland, his state. our senior white house correspondent jim acosta says the issue has caused a serious rift between the governor and the white house. >> wolf, maryland governor o'malley was a top sur grade for president obama during his election campaign in 2012 but not anymore. late last week, the maryland governor, who is ink thissing about running for president in 2016, was sharply critical of white house plans to return thousands of undocumented children back to central america who are at the heart of this border crisis. that criticism prompted a phone call from what i understand from a top white house official, cecilia munoz, to o'malley, who took issue with his comments. it was during that phone call, sos f sources familiar with the conversation say, that o'malley asked nunoz to send them to a site b site. saying he was being hypocritical in asking t
