martin is tracking you warming trend. >>> it's been eight years in the making and now san francisco general hospital's new trauma center has finally opened its doors. ktvu's rob roth found out the state-of-the-art facility is getting some good reviews from hospital staff. >> reporter: san francisco's new billion dollar baby is open for business. the san francisco general hospital and trauma center. >> definitely way more cutting edge. >> reporter: the state-of-the- art medical center opened over the weekend. hospital staff moved more than 150 patients out of the old hospital into the new facility. >> very first case. >> reporter: nurses and technicians say so far so good especially the or. >> the new operating room is really nice. big, comfortable. >> reporter: the old facility still has as the psychiatric unit and outpatient clinic but doesn't meet the stringent state seismic safety standards required of acute-care hospitals. >> reporter: the new windows. it has been eight years in the making. it all began in 2008 when san francisco voters passed proposition eight, an $887 million bond measure. the zucker brothers donated $75 million, enough to get naming rights.
