martin savidge is in kingwood, west virginia, and i think you're practically frozen by now, martin. >eels pretty chilly out here. it's 33 degrees, not that cold, but ideal for heavy snowfalls and that's exactly what we've got going on here. prescott county -- preston, rather, is one of 12 in this state that is under a blizzard warning. we've got near whiteout conditions now. heavy winds are blowing and you can see how it's piling up. this is actually a parking lot of a shopping center. you can see that he brought in farm equipment, earth moving equipment because the snow is so heavy, so thick. that's the stuff you were talking about, like concrete. it's very spllick underneath because the street temperature still warm and so that's causing a lot of slipping and sliding but the buildup is so fast they barely get this lot cleared and it starts getting driven by the wind and it gets coming from the sky. we've already got about ten inches of snow. they anticipate at least another foot. blizzard warnings in effect all the way through tomorrow. we've got at least 30 counties that have cance

cnn's martin savidge is in kingwood, west virginia, about 100 miles south of pittsburgh, and the snowfall there, i have been watching you all morning, it looks as though you're in the rockies. what's the expectation where you are? >> reporter: well, ashleigh, i mean the expectation is anywhere from a foot, with he clearly have that already, you can just take a look, but it could be two feet, three feet depending where you are in the upper elevations of the state of west virginia, and right now we're under a blizzard warning. pretty easy to see why. it may look like fog but this is heavy snow that's coming down. we're also dealing with very strong winds. that's why we're under a high wind warning, and then if you can believe it, we're also under a flood warning. so it's a triple whammy here. and this snow is a really thick, heavy kind which is the problem when you look out there. you have the high winds blasting into the trees. these ones are doing okay but we went down the road a bit and it is very, very difficult driving, plus the tree limbs are coming down, they're exploding literally,

i'm martin savidge in for fredricka whitfield.re the stories we're watching right now. a manhunt under way in inglew d inglewood, california, after five people believed to be related were shot earlier this morning. according to police, three were children, two were adults. a 4-year-old boy has died along with a 30-year-old male victim. three others are in stable condition. police are now searching for a 55-year-old black male who was last seen wearing a dark hat and painter's mask. i want to bring in now art barren, from our affiliate, kcla or kcbs. art, the police say that the family may know who the shooter is. what is the connection? and what sparked this? >> martin, i have been speaking with some neighbors today in inglewo inglewood, and what i'm hearing time after time is the person they believe is the gunman, the suspect, was someone who rented out a room, a back house, if you will, from the residents there in inglewood. and the other thing that we're hearing is that apparently he became behind on his rent, and so they sued

martin savidge joins us from west virginia. martin, the conditions you have seen for the last -- well, all day long, incredible. how is it right now? >> reporter: it is amazing. we're still talking about the same essential storm that walloped the eastern coastline, but now in the mountains of west virginia. totally different impact, but still dangerous and essentially problematic for some time to come. snow still falls, snow totals starting to be measured in feet, not inches anymore, and the blizzard warnings we thought would expire have been extended, through the night tonight and apparently through most of the day tomorrow, it is still blowing, still drifting, temperatures dropping, plows will have a hard time keeping up. you mentioned hundreds of thousands without power, also, of course, without heat. that will be a danger. the national guard has now been put into action and going door to door in some areas for people who may be ace lated. cut off from the snow, checking on their welfare and brought in heavy equipment. the sn

our martin savidge is in cleveland with more. >> that new cnn poll, good morning, victor and chirsti, does not show any real change between president obama and mitt romney were after that first debate. still 50% in favor of president obalma and 56% to mitt romney. that is still well within the margin of error. other polls and other pundits that have spoken of a shift in ohio going in favor of mitt romney, momentum is not reflected in the new cnn poll. it is where it was a couple weeks ago. president obama hangs on to ohio and many believe he will hang on and be re-elected to a second term. this is not by a lack of trying by both candidates to win over last-minute votes and they are doing it to spend an incredible amount of money. $177 million buying television time, much of that money spent right here in northern ohio. we should point out in the cleveland market in 2008, total campaign ads, television time, $36 million. in 2010, it was up to $44 million spent. so far, we are at $88 million in cleveland alone. some say it's closer to $97 million and we've still got a way to go. 400% in

martin savidge is right outside kingwood, west virginia and these are the things we know about sandy. wide. you are surrounded by snow. >> absolutely. yeah, we are in the middle of a blizzard here. we're in the higher elevations of the mountains of west virginia in preston county, one of 11 counties in this state currently under a blizzard warning. this area is under a triple threat. a blizzard warning, a high wind warning and we've got a flood warning all in effect right here. it's only going to get worse and it will go, at least that blizzard warning, until about 6:00 tonight, we are told. the only way you're seeing us is the head lights of our vehicle. the power is out here. about 120,000 people in the state without electricity. but the big problem, you can see, it's just piling up behind us. the mountain already forming in the back of this parking lot here. this is really wet, heavy, thick, difficult snow. we've got huge chunks of it here and it's coming down faster than the plows can really take care of. the other problem, of course, with that heavy, wet snow it's pulling down th
