in the 50s in a lot of spots like manassas 55 degrees, 55 in fredrick as well, 56 right now in martinsburgin gaithersburg still in the 60s in downtown washington and check out these dew points, you know that dew point is a measure of how much moisture is in the atmosphere. it's these numbers were the same as the air temperature, then you would have fog but since we have temperatures in the 60s and dew points in the 50s in downtown d.c., you know things are feeling very comfortable out there. that trend is going to continue through today and tonight and even tomorrow. on satellite and radar with high pressure in control we're looking good right now. you can see that weak cold front on the way. it doesn't have very much of anything in the way of moisture with it on our futurecast, we'll track that cold fronts progress and a few sprinkles popping up in the mountains but not making their way into the metro this afternoon. notice how any of that activity dissipates. it looks like we could see showers north of baltimore and southbound toward fredericksburg and richmond but not in the metro area.

they got up to harpers ferry in martinsburg, both in west virginia now, then in virginia, where another dim bulb of union generals, he was a political general, a german immigrant, he was made a general because he could bring in germans, he was from st. louis. he was the one who had the not very good experience at new market on may 15th, where he outnumbered the confederate troops and lost when the entire corps of v.m.i. cadets came up from lexington and defeated sigel, unofficially known as the flying dutchman. sigel fled martinsburg and harpers ferry and they had a nice 4th of july, the southern troops did, eating all the yankees' food and drinking whatever beverages they found. the next day on july 5th, they crossed over the potomac river into maryland. this is the third invasion of the north by confederate troops. 1862, 1863, into what will be the battle of monacacy in 1864. seagal fled to the other side of the river from harpers ferry and were pretty well embedded up there. early thought about going after them, but he didn't. he made a right turn, now 50 miles from washington, d.c.

martinsburg, west virginia had a record low this morning a 48 degrees. every chilly overnight conditions that will go away. we will get more humidity coming in, along with more cloud cover. the satellite radar, clear as a bell all day long over the mid-atlantic. some of these clouds are creeping in from the west. the low pressure across the midsection, plus the cold front to the north will combine to keep a more active weather pattern the next couple days. most of our sunday will be fine. clouds roll in overnight. there will be a few pop up showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon, mainly after 2:00. they will be scattered, so not everybody will get in on the action. monday, another chance of wet weather late in the day. tuesday could be the one to really look at. tonight, clouds roll in, the temperatures into the 60's, upper 60's i think in d.c. tomorrow, partly sunny across the region. the seven-day forecast, the wet weather continuing on and off. that will be until the middle part of next week. i'm hoping we don't have to stretch that out later, a r

this is most likely going to hit martinsburg with the best chances of getting hit. we'll have to wait an see how much of this develops in town. here's our future weather forecast model. there's the rain chance by 1:00 in the mountains. by 3:00, still inching its way east of the blue ridge, staying mainly dry in the metro through at least 4:00 or 5:00. between 5:00 and 8:00, that real chance for a shower or thundershower to go grazing on by here, drying back out again for the overnight hours tonight. then we do it all over again tomorrow. by lunchtime tomorrow, partly sunny and dry but showers and thundershowers likely to bubble up once again late tomorrow afternoon into tomorrow evening. so here's your seven-day forecast. 87 degrees for a high today. rain chances go up to 40% tomorrow and 50% on friday. friday afternoon and night may very well be the wettest stretch of the next seven days and the rain chance may linger into the front half of saturday as well. i think by saturday late in the day and saturday night things should be drying out nicely. more money saved

they got up to harpers ferry in martinsburg, both in west virginia now, then in virginia, where another outnumbered the confederate troops and lost when the entire corps of v.m.i. cadets came up from lexington and defeated sigel, unofficially known as the flying dutchman. sigel fled martinsburg and harpers ferry and they had a nice 4th of july, the southern troops did, eating all the yankees' food and drinking whatever beverages they found. the next day on july 5th, they crossed over the potomac river into maryland. this is the third invasion of the north by confederate troops. 1862, 1863, into what will be the battle of monacacy in 1864. seagal fled to the other side of the river from harpers ferry and were pretty well embedded up there. early thought about going after them, but he didn't. he made a right turn, now 50 miles from washington, d.c. and they did rest for a couple of days in maryland. then he headed towards washington, d.c. jubal was quite a character, to say the least. he went to west point, but not to be a military man, it was a good education at the time. he did take par
