joining us now marty makary a doctor doctor with johns hopkins school of medicine and public health andby the way of "fox business" contributor. it's great to see you doctor. what is your take on this? do you think the evidence is growing that this may be a lab link? >> ashley at think the evidence has been there all along. i said in april of 2020 at the beginning of the pandemic on "fox news" it was an infected lab worker that went to the wuhan hospital that was patient zero. we have overwhelming evidence and that evidence is not going to change and it's not going to change with all the politicians posturing for a full investigation. we have got now everything we are going to get and i think the best evidence is google maps. if you go to the google maps page and you put on the wuhan urology in the central hospital there a few blocks apart. ashley: it's going to be hard to get an admission out of china for sure but what can we learn from all of this? >> first of all we will never get the source sample. they've been destroyed i'm pretty confident of that. all you have to do is put togeth

joining me fox news contributor marty makary. thanks for joining us. but the delta variant. is it too late to assess the risk? >> if you have immunity either from the vaccination or natural immunity there is nothing to worry about with the delta variant. it appears to be more contagious but all infections are clustered around the non-immune population. charles: you have expressed concerns that cdc isn't doing more about reports of heart problems in young folks who have taken the vaccine. what is it going on here? >> yeah, charles, this is a big problem. there is more data right now to guide a pause for the second dose in kids than there was for the j&j pause and the reason is that we're seeing a cluster of hundreds of these heart complications, perry carditis, myocarditis, including a couple deaths from kids who got sick from the second dose. this is not random association. it is association until proven otherwise in a child. in adults you have a random baseline rate of blood clots and other problems like strokes. in kids you have got to assume the ass

marty makary wrote an op-ed. he had good news. pennsylvania, mount sinai university school of medicine. what do you say? >> i think we're getting closer and closer to herd immunity in some geographic areas. people vaccinated with those with prior infection you're right around that number. many cdc models did not predict the precipitous drop in cases. their underestimating the natural immunity in the population and it is real and something we can count on in certain circumstances. elizabeth: it is really interesting. he said in february, nearly half of los angeles cases had natural immunity. even a year of a people are infected they still have antibodies. this is strong stuff. why are the fights in blue states about shutdowns like in washington and oregon. >> they're trying to be cautious and don't want to make an error, they want to error on the other side, looking at vision numbers without counting immunity from prior infection. why states like florida and texas they were doing a lot better than people thought. they didn't get ha

marty makary. what do you make of the delta variant and the w.h.o. saying we need to mask back up?ery worried. they have a large segment of their population unvaccinated and the w.h.o. is looking at that and saying we don't have any data to support masking those who are fully vaccinated but we're just going to recommend it anyway so the w.h.o. made this recommendation really with no data. delta variant is something we watch. it is slightly more contagious, it's going to circulate in younger people a little more quickly. those are the people where the fatality rate is low comparable to seasonal flu. dagen: some experts are warning that the johnson & johnson vaccine may not be enough to protect against the delta variant. are americans going to need a booster? should they receive a booster? is it available at this point? >> i think it's unlikely we're going to need boosters. i'm of the opinion and a lot of scientists are by the way that the immunity we have now either from two doses of the vaccine, from one dose of the j&j, or from natural immunity is probably life long. that's what t
