i'm anne-marie green. president trump's budget proposal is being met with optimism since congress enacted its own spending legislation. the president's $4.4 trillion proposal is probably dead on arrival. it is an outline plaintimr. tru priorities. after years of objecting to increased spending, the budget proposal would add $7.2 trillion to the federal deficit over the coming decade. there are big cuts to programs that benefit the poor like housing, health care, and food stamps. instead of food stamps, the trump administration proposes giving low-income families a box of non-perishable food every month. retirement benefits would remain mostly untouched, though. >>> when it comes to immigration reform, democrats and republicans agree on at least one thing -- reaching a deal will not be easy. the senate did agree to begin debate, though. the focus will be on so-called dreamers. young people who have lived in this country illegally since being brought here as children. >>> the motion is agreed to. >> reporter
